TIVO Series 2 for 49.99 after rebate.

The $49.99 AR price for the 40 hr unit and the $150 rebate have been going on since 9/04. It's the same price at Tivo.com, CC, newegg, Dell, Target, etc.

What makes the Best Buy deal different (at least I don't see this offer elsewhere) is that you get a TiVo 3-month gift subscription card with the purchase of the TiVo at Best Buy this week. See page 27 of this week's ad. That's $38.85 in free service included with the purchase.

Or, if you buy a 40hr unit along with one year's prepaid service at tivo.com, you don't have to do the rebate thing, they just sell you the unit for $49.99.

 
Why are you posting this when this deal has been going on forever? This has been discussed plenty of times already. There's even been better deals where you can get a Tivo for free after rebate. You'll need to do a search next time.

The operative words are "been better deals". Those deals are over and this is the best deal currently available that I know of for a 40hr TiVo since your cost would be $11.10.

If you know a current deal for a free TiVo, please post it.

 
What if I already have a TiVo and the $6.95 per month retention rate? Will I still be eligible for this deal and get the $6.95 rate for a second Tivo?

Yes. See the rebate form and conditions here. You have to activate and agree to keep it active for 1 year ($$ penalty if you don't ). You can get up to 2 rebates.
