My brother just gave me the box for free since he now has DVR. He was paying a subscription, but isnt there an option for a lifetime subscription? If so, that is what they have i think. Anyways, he gave it to me and i am going to hook it up at my apartment tonight. Is there any way that you guys/gals know of to stay on their account and not have to pay the $12 a month or whatever it is? I am trying to find a way where i can get a discounted price since i already have the box and it has already been subscribed to tivo for ~2 yrs
 
no, they did away with Lifetime in April. You can attempt to stay on their account and pay $6.95/month if they have another Tivo, otherwise it will be $12.95 whereever it is.
 
oh...sorry, I misread. If they already had a Lifetime subscription, it will be free until the hardware dies.

you can check the subscription status at Tivo.com or by hooking it up and looking at the account status screen in the menu.

Well it sounds like he thinks they already have the lifetime subscription on that box... but it also sounds like he really has no idea.

hehe, well, this is true...kind of. My brother said they don't have a lifetime subscription, but his wife told me they do. So i am not 100% sure and i dont have their account information at this moment. I will call and get it. Hopefully, that will tell me what they have.
