Thanks! I took the plunge, but I called them to ask some Qs. Turns out if I want I can upgrade to the lifetime when I activate for the difference in price of 1 year-lifetime, which I guess I should do???

when I called (I ordered on the phone), the guy said that when I activate the TIVO service I can upgrade it to the lifetime at that time. The link I used was allisolm's above. I called and ordered that, but first asked whether I could upgrade it to the lifetime. He said yes, when I activated, I would then pay the difference.
