He's a new trader, everyone screws up and learns from it. I had my faults before, but I apologized and admitted to it and fixed my errors.

This is just wrong. Yes, he was a bit late in shipping, but that is forgivable. His packing is different, but obviously effective.

But you bashing him for the way the box was treated by the shipping company? Unforgivable.

Ok, the box was not treated badly by UPS. The box was too big to begin with, which is why it was crushed enroute. The packing was not sufficient, the drive was banging around in the box the entire time. And again, if you didn't notice, he lied to me about shipping.

If you couldn't tell, the majority opinion here is against you already. I'd hang it up now before you dig yourself even deeper.

The main thing here is, you took this public in off topic. A major faux paus

Ok, so some people disagree with me. I still think I'm right. I've been trading here ever since the board opened. I think I have a little more experience trading with people on here than you do. And I do know that no way in hell would I ever send something to someone packed like that. And I'd expect other traders here to have to same kind of standards when dealing with others.

I would say that my heatware rating makes my opinion valid.

Fine, you wouldn't have shipped something like that. I wouldn't have either.

But this is NOT the appropriate way to instruct him otherwise, this is a blatant attempt to trash his reputation because you feel somehow slighted by his packing methods.

I tried to put it to you nicely the first time, but I'll put it bluntly:

You're out of line here. WAY out of line.

Pretty nasty packaging. Hard drive should be double boxed. A newbie trader is somewhat forgiveable on this issue but shipping a week later than specified is well worth the flame.

Out of line? No, I am not. Yes, I am angry at the way he handled the situation. Yes, I am technically trashing his reputation. He obviously hasn't proved that he's a reliable trader, so I wanted to get that out to others here on the board.

I agree the box is slightly on the large side but UPS is notorious for using boxes as a footstool.

I think you should have pm'ed him instead of going public with this rant.

Iwearnosox gets the blame for the crappy packing, not the shipper imho. He only used one strip of tape. And you can tell the tape was not centered across both flaps. Oh, and the padding material is sweet... It looks like he packed it in 20 seconds. But, if the drive is in good working order, then I guess it's alright in this case. But I definitely do not want to buy stuff from someone who packs stuff like that. Eventually something's going to get broken in shipment, and then that's a whole 'nother set of problems (especially if iwearnosox ignores PM's..) so.. imho imho imho.. this is a valid thread.

That packaging job is not sufficient, thats for sure. Was it in an anti static bag? You guys obviously did not look at the pictures very good. You might as well have put the drive in sheets of paper instead of envelopes.

i agree. packing is important. you should try to center your package. you should try to get packing on all sides of the item. cardboard does not offer much of a cushion.

What's worse? Airing dirty laundry like this, or lying to someone about a shipping date? Myself, I'd have to say b. I hate liars.

You're an idiot for posting this here and it's the last time I trade with someone on AT.

Let's go down the list, shall we?

First off, your item was was shipped in a timely fashion. I told you that it was difficult for me to ship via UPS but I would get it out as soon as I could. My exact words. You want it out faster? Ship it via us mail, like I offered. No, you had to have it UPS, fine. I sent it via ups even though it cost me 75% more and it was at my expense. Did I pass this cost onto you? No.

You chose the carrier, and made no objections to my statement I would get it out as soon as I could. Now you're blaming me for how they treated your package? It was packed fine, and it was solid in a solid box. It's UPS you should be blaming.

What an asshat you are.

He said he would try to ship on 9/19. or 9/22 at the latest. Instead, he lies to me and tells me that he shipped but instead ships on 9/29.
. . .

A bad packing job is annoying but somewhat understandable for a n00b trader. But shipping a week late, lying about it, and ignoring PMs instead of apologizing are not the signs of a good trader.

Neutral heat seems appropriate, but since iwearnosox doesn't use heat I don't see how cchen could get the word out other than in a thread like this.

(ed) you posted your side while I was typing, iwearnosox. Did you tell cchen that you had already shipped the package before you really did?

Yes, I was fine with you getting it out when you could. But you said yourself, you would definitely send it out by a certain date. Well obviously you didn't send it out on that date and lied to me about shipping it.

usually both sides leave out some things. that's just human nature.

if it were me, i'd question the shipper with regards to the packing also. it wasn't the best packing job i've ever seen.

cchen or nosox- do either of you care to copy and paste your relevant PMs regarding this situation? That would clarify what really happened

Hmmm, so did he ever PM you saying that he had shipped it? Your earlier posts implied that he had.

I made no lies about shipping it, I said I would ship as soon as I could. I thought I could get it out sooner, instead it went out a few days later. Boohoo.

I'm sorry UPS banged it up but you should be dealing with them on that. If you're pissed at me then PM me, your last PM had nothing but rhetorical commentary and I received nothing from you after that.

You're an asshat, enjoy your drive.

The only time I told him it actually shipped is when it did. I made no lies.

You're all defending iwearnosox because he's a popular member of ATOT. If any of you received a shipment like this you'd be ranting and bitching all over the place.

The packaging was damaged because it sucked to begin with. cchen has every right to be pissed off.

I dont see how using a large box is his fault the box is slightly crushed/mangled..

Since the box was 'big', we should expect everything to be damaged when shipping?

he's POPULAR?? really??

i find many of his posts annoying but that has NOTHING to do with whethor or not i'd trade with him.

in all honesty i believe both sides to be emphsizing their own POV's more, but that always happens.

what we do have is pretty good empirical evidence that the package was not packed well. just claiming it is all UPS is insufficient as UPS did not put the packaging inside the box.

I am an experienced seller and the packing was fine. The drive did not move and was solidly in the box. He chose to use UPS and it was his carrier of choice to blame.

If he was so unhappy why not PM me for a refund instead of posting this rant? I received nothing from him after he recieved it. nothing.
