My university now has:

President
Senior VPs
Vice Presidents
Associate Senior VPs (directly report to Senior VPs)
Senior Associate VPs (directly report to VPs)
Associate VPs
Assistant VPs
Executive Directors
Directors
Assoc. Dirs.
Asst. Dirs.
Managers

Provost
Vice Provosts
Assoc. Provosts

Deans
Assoc Deans
Assistant Deans

I believe my school has at least three people (deans, directors, etc) who are "in charge of" IT services...

Does this strike anyone as crazy?

I think most universities and probably most organizations have rediculous structures like this... but really how many "managers" can there be?

Seems like there are enough "ranks" so that a first-year secretary could be titled an "Associate Office Manager" and probably get away with it....

I think it's like this everywhere. The number of VPs at some places is astounding. Wasn't it supposed to be one President and one Vice-President? 😕

I think this follows the trend of everyone wanting to be recognized for something, though.

Heh, there are TONS of VPs in the company I work for... a VP really isn't very high up there.
