ASUS A8N32-SLI Deluxe Revision 2???

Found this on ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/Asus-A8N32-SLI-Delu...5QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Quote from auction:
"READ THIS BELOW CAREFULLY!!!!

This is a pre-order. Read the information below to find out why these boards are not available in any kind of quantity yet!

This board has been delayed by asus for an "slight issue" that they have now fixed. As you can see by the picture and caption below, there is a REVISION 2.0 now. You say to yourself, "I can't even find revision 1.0, now there is a revision 2.0?!?!?!" This is because there was a "slight problem" with the boards that asus and most of the other people who have this already have not mentioned publically. Review sites and the few select others got the early production run before problems were noticed and asus had to fix it. If you think about it, why are there no real reviews or talk from anyone important about this board? Everyone has been real quiet about this item for a reason. With a delay of over a month and possibly another 2 weeks that tells you something. Wouldn't asus be promoting the heck out of this thing as the fastest, best, "got the most awards", "best reviews", "highest rated on blahblahblahs website" motherboard available??? Why are they not promoting it? Because it was delayed and unavailable in quantity to the public. Be sure that when the board is available it will be running smoothly for everyone who buys it. We would like to applaud asus for making sure the board works good before it hits the mainstream public but the way they are going about it makes the distributors, resellers and consumers very upset. Ignoring the consumer is never a good thing and asus is doing just that.

As you can see by the others selling this they are taking advantage of eager consumers and charging a "slightly" higher rate. We are offering it at a reasonable price and 2nd day air shipping when they arrive in stock. We have an allocation of 50 of these from our vendor and were the 2nd reseller to have an order in for these (had the order in since October 7th). We are guaranteed to get the very first amounts of these from the largest asus distributor in the U.S. The estimated time of arrival is thanksgiving week. No concrete date has been set but the 23rd or 25th is potentially a date we are looking at from our sources."

Ever hear that old saying... "I heard it on television so it must be true!" Then of course that later changed to... "I heard it on the Internet so it must be true!" Now its... "I heard it on from some seller on Ebay so it must be true!"

Forget the grain of salt. Take the whole salt shaker and down it. LOL

Not sure what might be the issue but an owner over at xtremesystems had two cpu's killed by the mobo. Also though, there have been a number of users w/out issues.

Yeah after looking at the ebay listing they say they are selling for a "reasonable" price of 234.99. While other places are charging more? Dont forget the 16.99 shipping. As I recall isnt the msrp of this board around $199. So arent they doing the same thing that they claim other vendors are doing? Either way I paid $256 shipped for my board through newegg. No problems so far.

As mentioned before the GTX KO's will work in sli with the xtrememusic but are too thick to use the pci slots closest to the vid cards(even though they are called one slot cooling). Doesnt concern me that much as ill be using evgas step up to get the 512 version. 😀

Ohhh, if that is the case, I will return it to ASUS for a new REV 2 board. I do really hope they have advance option so that they can send me the new board first before I return them the rev 1 board. If not I will not be able to use my comp for 2 weeks!!!

That explains why no technical guy at ASUS forum has answered my questions.

Lol, both my boards came up fine and running well and very stable. the only thing i have seen wrong so far is the first time ya access the APM settings in bios they are there, but anytime after that they poof. It does not appear to be affecting the function of the board. I configured each machine with 1 Video card each and will be moving on to SLI tonight after i back the machines up to differnt drives. I can tell you its refreshing to not have to reset the bios every change i make like on the A8nSLI Deluxe's and the temps are very nice. 36 MB and 39 Atlon FX 55. The Zalman cnps9500 's fit well and cool just as well as my older gigabyte rocket 3d's. The Audigy 2 ZS is in the middle slot on both machines and one machine has a evga 7800 gtx ko acs3 card and one has an asus 6800 ultra. Each machine will receive its second matching card tonight. Asus Probe 2 is a very nice improvement. Im using PC Power and Cooling 510 deliuxe sli power supplies. One machine has 2x1 gig corsair xms with LED and one has 4x512 OCZ Platnum Rev 2.
I did not have an issue with 4 dims being seen att 333 mghtz like some have reported but the asus site correctly explains ya can manualy change it to 400 mghtz for the memory and it works. I built one machine from scratch and then cloned the other from the first with Casper XP and all worked flawlessly even with the different ram. Right now im using 0703 bios, nforce4x16 6.82 chipset and the 81.85 Graphics drivers.
3 Seagate Sata 2 160's in each machine and one Diamond Max 10 250 in each. All drives came up fine. I have not tried raid yet but will when done with sli testeing. One other thing i noticed is having to rename the bios file to a generic name when updating. 2 sections in the manual dont tell you that but one section for the Alt-f2 function does. That threw me for a second but i quickly recovered lol.

All in all so far so good. I hope to have pics and specs up by end of this week. Where's the sticky thread!!

Looking forward to your next post update, Squonk. I'm especially interested if that Audigy2 ZS will fit with that second eVGA 7800GTX KO ECS3 card. If it does and all runs fine then I will make the ASUS A8N32 mychoice in my next build. I want to thank you again for taking the time to post your experiences here. Very appreciated.

Squonk...

Please check something that everyone has been wondering about...the vcore issue!

I personally have a premium and have been wondering if swapping out to this board would resolve the issue. Basically they vcore is not stable on the premium, and I can't get it past 1.45 at all! Just wont go higher anymore...and yes I've used every bios update under the sun.

hopefully with the new power this board has...it won't be a problem

Already been covered in the thread:

Yes, this board seems to have the best CPU power supply circuit on the market,
assuming it's designed well. It has an 8-phase CPU power supply circuit while most
motherboards havs 3, some have 4, and only one I've ever seen has 6.
The greater number of Vcore regulator phases help the regulators run cooler and help
the voltages remain stable with high current capacity even under rapidly changing
heavy power loads.

In my experience so far it's given a VCORE for my X2 of 1.35 volts as its nominal value.
The readout circuit most commonly measures that as 1.34, and under full CPU load
(two instances of StressPrime 2004) it's reading either 1.33 or 1.34, so it's staying within
better than 0.02 volts of the correct value, including any innaurcuraties of the read-back
monitoring.. so basically within 1% or so, which is just fine as far as I can tell.
I'm running an X2-4400, and that's one of the most power hungry CPUs out there,
though I have yet to overclock it.,

Basically I am waiting for a new BIOS that solves all problems. Though I am now using the SiliconImage SATA controller for my 3rd sata drive, I really wish my motherboard not to be crippled.

squonk,
Can you please experiment to raid your SATA1 and SATA2 and then connect the other drives to SATA3 and SATA4 and see if the drives at SATA3 and SATA4 exist in Windows XP? So that I can know where the problem really is. Thanks!!

Howdy, I?m new to these boards, but have been reading them lately.

Thanks for the heads up on the heatsink position QuixoticOne, I changed my order at Monarch just it time, and ask them to put a thread up warning morons like me not to use the lian-li 1000/1100 series cases.

FYI for all,

Ebay seller spcgeeks has the mobo for $265 and claims to have 21 in stock. I ordered a set (I'm building 2 rigs) and figure what the hey, if it ships and I get it before the my back order, I'll just cancel the back order.

Zanta -- this is nott the ll3500 ram designed for the board, Its just regular old CORSAIR XMS 2GB (2 x 1GB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM Unbuffered DDR 400 CL2 (PC 3200) System Memory with LED- Retail

Squonk...

What are you using to report vcore voltages with and is that the one you have an X2 cpu on? That's what I'm mostly concerned about since I have the 4800+

Dragon both processors in both machines are Athlon FX 55's not dual cores. Using Bios and Asus Probe 2 to confirm settings, Everest needs an upgrade to be compatable with this chipset

Skott It fits, I stuck the next EVGA 7800GTX KO AC3 in the second PCIX slot and the closest part of the Audigy 2 ZS to the back of the Video card heat sink is a good 1/4 inch away. Thats the IDE controller on the sound card that commes closest. I dont mind telling you guys after fighting with the Bios stability and constantly resetting it on my a8n sli deluxes for every little change this is refreshing. I simply turned the machine off, stuck the second card in added the soft bridge (wich i actualy like over the hard one) and booted up. Logged into XP, it detected the card, switched to sli, (no reboot required in 81.85 driver set) and played eg2 for 20 minutes on stock profile and 20 in eq2's profile without a hitch. Turned sli off, shut down machine, removed Audigy to get at the clasp that holds the second video card in place. Removed 2nd 7800gtx, stuck Audigy back in and booted up. I never once stopped at the bios and all worked fine. I have Modded Lian Li PC 60's so the end of the cards are very close to the drive cage but the spacing is very well thought out although I will say very close to being not workable. The Sata controller falls exactly between the two video cards so I was able to easily (with just enough room) bunch the sata cables (4) between the two cards and still get both dedicated power lines from the PC Power and Cooling 510 Deluxe SLI Power Suplly, into the video cards. Those with longer depth in the case will have no issues. Everything works so far in my cases though as far as layout so all be it tight its fitting and functioning. 🙂

This bios is a far greater improvement over past Asus boards.
