if they stay on it for more than six months. And they should lose the right to vote for as long as they are on it.
If they choose to stay on it after six months-mandatory castration.

What about illegal drug using alcoholic schizophrenics off their meds who express wanting to mutilate others? What should we do to them? Maybe put them in prison before they start mutilating people on public assistance? Or maybe we can just pretend to judge them so they will take a hint.

If you attack someone someday I hope it's someone with a gun who can defend himself like George Zimmerman. What? Too soon? Too bad for you Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson don't care about justice or they might incite more violence on your behalf after your untimely demise.

Hey they are religious too right? Maybe you could all drink the kool aid together while singing Kill all the Heathens.

To the tune of We Are The Champions:

Kill all the heathens my friends....
We'll keep on fighting till the end...

Kill all the heathens
Kill all the heathens

No time for losers
Cause we Kill the heathens...
of the world....

I agree, people who can not even support themselves should not be allowed to reproduce.

It's time to start facing reality, this is a planet with finite resources and finite space and finite jobs etc etc...

To be serious in a troll thread:

I'd support requiring a removable contraceptive implant for everyone on welfare, both men and women. Once they get and keep a job for X months the implant comes out and they can have kids again.

Give them a chance to redeem themselves. Most won't, but a few will.

this thread is 50 shades of stupid.
We're talking about 3 things at the same time, which are apparently related:
- corporate tax rate
- the bible
- reproduction of people on welfare

Anyway it's a stupid idea because it doesn't respect human rights or common morals.

When did CK quit? I wasn't aware of it.

There is an announcement thread at the top. He had to resign from time constraints while working on a book or something IIRC. He has been a lot less active since then.

I do wonder if EK is the only mod now.

I see no reason to give a woman money just because she had a baby. That is her problem not mine. Arent people who have sex for money called prostitutes?

What company is going to want to take on a $20/hr person who they know will bail in a minute the moment a $40/hr job shows up?

If companies want to hold onto good workers, perhaps they should pay the $40 per hour in the first place.

This! People should be responsible for their actions and it's not right that people who are responsible have to subsidize them.

I was wondering how things would go after C.K. quit. Nice!!!
An absent individual is not the cause -- it's the decrease of timely moderation enforcing the rules, and as witnessed in the P&N, leniency and neglect of action permits the rabble to take over.

There, there is not a total lack of moderation, just due to work load of moderators running the entire forum hinders the ability to timely manage the Discussion Club. Entirely understandable and the display for a need of a another member or two to volunteer their time to almost daily respond to reports and quickly monitor in here and possibly the P&N. Or better yet, have the P&N fall under the enforced rules of the general forum, put to pasture the DC, and a create new and infamously labelled forum where the anti-social rabble can fester in and out of the way of appropriate levels of discussion for the rest of the site. Political and current affairs discussion should not be equated to a cesspool. It's only a few with the leashes removed who are permitted to fester such a forum in a losing way.

The P&N already has a rule against excessive personal attacks - unfortunately that is not enforced, and the rabble have taken over with the fortitude of impunity to create an extremely toxic and repelling environment.

Of concerns in the Discussion Club rules are:

  • the apparent permission to tolerate intentional offense and stirring of the pot (ie. an avatar equating all Muslims to bombing terrorists which is off topic and can be as offensive to members as a user presenting an avatar of Nazi propaganda of Jews as a rat or thieves, or a black man after the white women - hate speech becomes hate speech when it is beyond a validated topic and thrown forth to push a prejudicial agenda). There is no absolute freedom of speech or freedom to offend here, there are acceptable limits to maintain a respectable and on topic atmosphere.
  • members who willfully ignore the course of a thread in their refusal cede or advance discussion with support for their repeated and already challenged points.
The rules and guidelines are present. Most of such can be quickly and objectively identified, but require moderators who have the interested time and care to jump onto issues before they get out of hand and lend to a culture of lowered expectations evolving in the society.

....sorry.....knowingly off-topic, but done so out of an intent of care. ;)

Well, whoever is moderating, I personally feel that this thread is not in the spirit of DC discussion and should be moved over to P&N. If we keep allowing this sort of thing in DC there won't be a reason for it to exist.

I agree the title is inflammatory and the OP looks to be trolling, I don't think the discussion should be hindered because of it. Castration of some form (permanent or temporary) for people on welfare would help reduce the number of people on welfare.

The idea of aid for low income families is one of the few "think of the children" type of legislation I agree with. Children should not be punished because their parents are ill equipped to take care of them. And I am sure the cost of just giving them a welfare check is less than having the state take all of those children and attempt to provide for them. Orphanages and foster care stories are usually not the most heart warming.
