No not a gimmick as the old JBL use to (some series does) use Titanium tweeter Ring Radiators on their PA Systems and Creative uses them on their top of the line Gigaaworks. The frequencies reack up to 40K Hz although are hearing doesn't go that high...Quality Titanium Tweeters have the best highs I've heard...
