I get this Mel Brooks vision of this ship going down like the original. But on the back as it sinks straight down below the name of the ship is a label "Made in China".

Seriously though if he want to spend his money why charge people that much to secure a cabin?

Also for old times sake they need to lock the poor in the holds of the ship and not allow them on deck. They also need to not have enough lifeboats and a captain with a big white beard. And please somebody has to make the claim it is unsinkable right before its maden voyage.

Honestly, I think it would be kind of a cool way to get away from the hustle of modern life for a week. Take the family on a trans-Atlantic cruise with no phones, no television, no internet. It would be kind of refreshing actually.

If the Olympic is any indication, the design did have some merit once retrofitted with improvements to the initial design flaws.

The third ship in the series, Britannic, also sank due to crew negligence and it had the design upgrades. Leaving a shitload of portholes open during wartime was probably a bad idea up there with steaming through an ice field in calm waters at flank speed during the night.

With the rates charged for ship-board internet and the lack of cell towers on pontoons in the ocean you can get pretty close with a some existing cruises

Yep, I'm pretty much out of contact. I usually log in every few days just to send an email or something to friends and family saying I'm still alive and having fun.

TV is nice though.

I'm guessing that $1,000,000 price tag is for something like a timeshare where you own the cabin, not a single voyage. With realistic pricing I think this is a great idea. No TV, no internet and they must also include no cellphones is very good marketing. A vacation is supposed to be a change of pace, change of lifestyle.

I hope they use the same type of construction for the propellers. It had a really distinct sound when a body lands on one and bounces in the water. At least in the movie, anyway. 😛

AHHHHHHHhhhhhhhhh........ *dong* ... *splash*

Then don't put bad crews on ships. Design upgrades can't fix stupid. That doesn't mean you blame the ship for all the fallout.

Can't you charter a yaht and cross the atlantic for your own group for a mill?

Perhaps on the small(ish) side. Serene class is going to set you back at least $400k/week and that's not a planned transoceanic voyage.
