The last Titanic hero succumbs

He was a crewman on the Carpathia when the ship answered a distress call from the Titanic, which had hit an iceberg on her maiden voyage from England to New York.
Johnston, who "jumped ship" when the Carpathia arrived in South Africa, served in both world wars. He lived on the South Coast for 40 years. He joined the Memorable Order of Tin Hats in 1946, and until Tuesday was the Moths' ldest member.

Shipwreck hunter Robert Ballard may have found Kennedy's PT boat in Pacific
The explorer who found the Titanic said Wednesday he will consult with experts over "promising" but "inconclusive" findings in the search for PT 109, the vessel commanded by John F. Kennedy during World War II.
According to the radio report, Ballard who led a team that found the wreck of the sunken steamship Titanic in the Atlantic in 1985 said he located the wreckage of Kennedy's boat last week after searching for about a week. He did not provide details of the discovery, citing contractual obligations for film and magazine rights to the search.

What a small world. :)
