News Titanfall devs launch a Fortnite clone

Not surprising... the irony being Titanfall is a good game and another sequel with a BR mode would probably be very popular.

At this point though Fortnite will not be topped. Leave it to EA to derail yet another talented studio.

Respawn says that EA had nothing to do with the change:

I can kind of believe that. EA already have DICE working on a Battle Royale mode for Battlefield V, and that is meant to launch in March- seems like terrible planning to have both of their BR modes launch within a month of each other and compete for the same players.

Doesn't look too bad. I kinda like Overwatch and this has some of those vibes so I might give it a try. Will wait a bit for some actual gameplay footage though, the trailer makes it look very optimistic.

There are plenty of gameplay videos popping up on YouTube if you look now
This FTP game is indeed getting plenty of good feedback from players.

Fortnite...I hate that game. I dislike it so much that it is banned in my home. (kidding) but yeah when my daughter asked to download it I laughed and walked out of the room. (so maybe not kidding)

Titanfall 2 I enjoyed. A game I actually beat too which is saying something.

I am going to amend my review from pretty good to awesome. It is the only BR I have actually enjoyed. The squad dynamic is excellent. Getting a chance to recover from a dead teammate is great.

Downloaded it last night to see how it looked and felt. Pretty slick, just hard for me to get into these types of games for some reason. There's certainly some mechanics that are a nice touch though and I'll at least give it a chance. It's also free, so that's neat.

If anyone's looking to squad up my Origin ID is the same name (EXCellR8)

I might have to check this out. Not a FN fan at all, and never got into PUBG although I tried it a few times. I've been playing a bunch of Overwatch lately. I completely suck, but having a good time with it.

I finally got my ping issues fixed. The UI is great, and there are a lot of quality of life things that are wonderful. The movement is really sluggish, it takes way too long to kill people, and the gun play doesn't feel that great. It's a solid game, but I find Blackout more fun.

Been playing all weekend and have been really enjoying the game. My friend suggested we try it together. It's been quite awhile since I've played a FPS and an even longer time since playing an online one. My skills are rusty but they are starting to come back. Can't say I've played many online squad based FPS in the past, usually the generic 2 team stuff. Getting put with poor skilled players in this game is really frustrating. Only have 3 players to a team really highlights what having even 1 weak link can do.

Played it off and on all weekend. I never got into the whole BR platform but I'm having fun playing this game. Having a squad really makes the game entertaining. I completely suck, but my experience has been great so far. I have issues now and then with connecting to a match, but I haven't experienced any bugs. Seems polished to me.

Didn't get to play this weekend but I'm going to attempt to get more into it. I do appreciate the more mature/serious overall style of this one compared to FN, which I tried maybe twice.

Played for a few hours this evening, but I don't think this type of game is for me. The squads seem to spend more time picking up/drop gear than actually engaging with others. Many of the matches we went pretty far, but most of the time we didn't have but a single kill.

I would try again if that's your primary complaint. Your drop leader chooses where the squad drops, assuming you don't break off. So you can straight up drop on top of other squads and have action immediately. The secondary drop ship always has at least 2 to 3 squads drop on it right at the start. If you get in a group of low level players and they drop on the other side of the map, you may not see any action for a long time.

You just need to play with people who want to play like you. I've been in a multiple squads that push very hard the entire game. If there is gun fire, they're running towards it.

I will give it a few more tries. Lots of games coming out this week so I'm sure I will rotate through them.

I would like to find a few more groups that are more into fire fights than hunting down the perfect gun setup. Some of the funnest parts so far were fist fights because no one found a weapon yet.
