Reviews of the 2080Ti might make your decision clearer....As long as nvidia doesn't ban testing against the Titan V on the sponsored reviews.

On the other hand RTX 2080 ti has 48% more cuda cores than RTX 2080..and they say that RTX 2080 would match 1080 ti and overclocks like crazy.

stock cooler, but the case is well ventilated and i can max out the fans (i play with headphones).
btw atm i m using it at stock speed ((no need to oc)

2080Ti is a cut down chip. No announcement of a new Titan and TBH, if there is a new one, I'd expect it to be priced in line with Titan V (~3K).

Titan V to 2080 Ti is basically Titan XP compared to 1080 Ti. Basically only people with specialized uses or looking for the last 5% of performance will get a Titan V over the 2080 Ti.

From Gamernexus overclocking stream today:

Timespy Extreme:
Titan V 2000 MHz: ~7800 points
2080 Ti 2130 MHz: ~7400 points

Sniper Elite 4:
Titan V 2000 MHz: ~145 fps
2080 Ti 2130 MHz: ~130 fps

So basically unless you want 5-10% more perf for 2.5x the cost. However the used market is more reasonable here: ebay Titan Vs only sell for between $1300-1800 used right now. So the used price of a Titan V vs msrp of 2080 Ti is roughly where the Titan XP to 1080 Ti msrp relationship is at this time (since used 2080 Tis won't be discounted anytime soon, probably until after the winter holidays when supply improves).

No they don't. They majority of recent ones sold above $2000.

There is only 1 that shows up that sold for $1300 or anywhere near that. It was fluke that sold with 1 bid, 1 month ago... Seems a bit fishy, but the odds of that happening, is like getting struck by lightning.

The 2080ti is a huge chip at Titan pricing. The next named Titan is presumably going to be Volta’s 7nm replacement - so crazily expensive and probably compute installs only for a good while!

Very sensible advice of course, but worth clarifying my previous answer - if you take the question as 'what to upgrade Titan XP to - 2080ti or wait for a new Titan' the answer has to be that the 2080ti is the new Titan so take that or skip a generation.

Might get a 2080ti ish chip cheaper in a year or so I suppose.

Well, we could still get the equivalent of the Titan Xp later for Turing. Fully enabled 4608 shaders and 384-bit 12GB. But like the Titan Xp it would only be a worthwhile purchase if you need the 12GB of VRAM for any applications, or for e-peen growth.

2080 Ti for sure. I'd be surprised if the next titan comes out soon, they have to be stocking the best dies for high end quadro and other professional line stuff first

E-peen is pretty much the only reason. There is no way, that somehow 12GB would be magically sufficient to anyone, to whom 11GB is not enough.
