Titan Quest **UPDATE**

I don't have the game yet but will have this Wed. Already downloaded the patch 😉

I've read on a few Titan Quest forums that even with the new patch 1.08, that the game crashes alot and is buggy. Is anyone experiencing this or is just alot of talk from people not knowing anything about computers or how to set things up correctly?

Never patched. Just finished the game last night. I don't wanna say that it's just talk from people who know nothing. Obviously, with PCs, you're talking about a HUGE number of unique hardware configurations... and then you get into software and driver conflicts, etc. Anything can happen. But on the 3 machines in my house (all extremely different), TQ has run without crashes.

Game is very stable for me with the patch, try disabling AA in Titan's Quest options,I found when I started the game this caused most of my crashes until I disabled it.

Very unstable for me. It randomly destroyed all my quest data yesterday - I have a level 10 guy who has oficially completed 0% of the game.

Good idea on the AA Mem, but you can't really call it 'very stable' if it crashed a lot with AA on and sometimes without... Any idea if AA in the driver contol panel works OK?

Well I had 2 crashes with AA on ,none without,I think it works ok with AA enabled via display panel, however I run it at 1600x1200 res so still looks great with AA off.

The "AA" crashes were Nvidia driver or game related, since I got the Nvidia driver memory BSOD message.

FYI the only bug I have found since patch is my player can get stuck in some places, however he can still teleport to other places and run around until he teleports back and is stuck in same spot, rare but only bug I have found (twice so far in 20 hours plus of gaming)and no real crashes since the patch.

Ah, I thought it was crashing without AA coz you said AA caused 'most' of your crashes.

Interestingly I never get a BSOD, it just freezes completely and forces a hard reset. I'll turn off AA and report back... pity though as it doesn't cause much of performance hit for me.

I had a game like that, it was crappy buggy Dungeon lord,I just wait 20 secs or so and it unfreezes, more like the game pauses, lockups for 20 secs then resumes playing, try waiting and see if it unfreezes.

So far I have had it crash randomly a few times.

The kind of crash I get is that it will alt-tab or blank my screen black, then go back into the game as if nothing happened....however, there will be one of those error boxes from windows (you know, the one that asks if you want to send a debug report).

I just save a lot so that if it does crash, I can reload w/o losing much.

BTW, is there a "quick save" button? I couldn't find one in the key bindings.

I suppose I should've said that about the many diff. configs. people have.

I'm just shocked at all the threads I read where some kid gives advice by telling others to edit sys files, other files, download this and run it, etc. And stating all the while, hey!, it worked for me! No warning that it could mess up their computers.

The thing is, you should not have to edit anything. I have so many friends who "think" they know what their doing but have not a clue. Most of them have problems all the time by doing what I warn them against, and then having to fix their problems when they arise!

I never help anyone with computers anymore (even family!) because you always get blamed for the next problem that comes up even if it had nothing to do with the first one

We'll see how it goes come Wednesday 🙂

Ok, an update.......

I have been playing "ALOT", since I have the time and have only encountered 3 restarts right in the middle of playing. This was in over a week of playing the game. No other problems single player or online.

The game rocks!!! Just finished the first 1/3 with only 2x wolves with me running in circles........... It was a cu*t though, 20min easy......... I chee wa wa!

same thing with my lvl 10 battlemage, I uninstalled the game afterwards.

Played through normal difficulty. Just one crash. All-in-all, a pretty trouble free game and good performance on my 3ghz/1gig ram/x850xt system. Big kudos to the graphics....very nice environments. And as a single player game, I think it trounces D2.

Rolled up a theurgist and it was pretty much a breeze (yup, I like my games like that) with a few challenges here and there. I thought a few of the bosses had some bad AI written......like the very last one where if you're range and you're paying attention it's not a problem to dispatch him.

i've only had one crash so far. i alt-tabbed out of TQ and upon returning...it didn't load up and then it just crashed. Other than that, it's fine for me.

I reboot constantly in the last dungeon of Greece once i make it to the 2nd level. I can not continue any further until it is resolved.

Does anyone know how to take a "Screenshot" in the game? I tried the "Prt scrn" key like in D2 but I cannot find the files. I know where to find all the files it's just that I'm not sure what the names of the files are.

Fraps

Figured it out.

When you hit PRT SCR, it's saved on the clipboard.
It's a clipboard image. You have to open the clipboard (WinNT/sys32), save the file to another folder, open it with an image program (I use Paintshop Pro 8) and edit it etc etc.

I still could not find the actual screenshot file within' WINNT/Sys32 though.

Looks like you can only save one file at a time as the next time you hit print screen, it overwrites your previous screenshot! Lot of BS to go through but it works.
