i do see a problem there, tires and brakes are the only thing that keeps the car on the road and stopping. in an emergency stop, it can mean accident or no accident. It can mean the world in poor weather as well.

cheaping out on those 2 things are foolish. it seems the lowest priced stuff are $40-50 and the better known name are in the 60-70. so roughly $80 difference, i don't think $80 is worth a chance to get into a accident in the rain from sliding or etc.

Check your local places and get priced of them installed. Go look up reviews on the make and model of that exact tire and see how others rate it.

I do feel deals can be made by local shops to pretty much price match or come close after all thats said and done. Like my sam's club deal was i think $50 cheaper then what any other store gave me and thats mainly shipping and labor to install. The tire overall cost more but throw in lift time rotation and balancing ( if you use it ) made the difference on my g/f lancer.

well I went ahead and ordered the AVIDs...They seem a very solid brand. I just want my front tires to be replaced (and for my steering wheel to be fixed) because its annoying. Anyways, Thanks all for all your time and help! 🙂

EDIT: true that T2urtle, I am NOT taking any chances and I thought the AVIDs were very reliable...Thanks for all the info! Tirerack is a very handy website!

I think you made a good and safe bet... wish you went for all 4 so you can rotate and prolong the life a little longer but do what you see fit.

if there is a alignment problem in the front and the if you had a recent tire rotation say... withing the 2 years or whenever the alignement issue started, you might of messed up the rear tires ( they were your fronts prior to rotation)

I always liked the yokohama brand but now i really do like them for general touring all season tires because its a decent balance between thread life/ traction and road noise. Sadly i probaly wont be using AVID's on my next car since it looks like i'm getting rid of my maxima for a g35 sedan. RWD in chicago pretty much makes me get a winter and summer set of wheels.

Xcobra be sure to write back in this thread about 2-4 weeks after you get the tires put on for reviews on the tires. since there are a lot of tires threads around lately might as give you 2 cents on those tires.
