I'm tired of waiting for the NForce. I think it will be a great board, and I will probably upgrade to one once it is proven. I am now in search of a Motherboard to use for a few months (in other words good & cheap). I don't need raid. These are the 3 I've narrowed the list to.

DFI AK76 - newegg $107
FIC AD11 - Newegg $108
Shuttle AK31 - Multiwave $95
Epox 8KHA - Newegg $105

I'm leaning towards the Shuttle. It is supposed to be a good overclocker, and be pretty stable. and it is the cheapest. I've debated the ECS K7S5A (SIS735) but It is not a good overclocker.

Any suggestions are appreciated!

I'd go with EPoX 8KHA, but there's one issue with both 8KHA and AK31. U can't oc the fsb above 138MHz or the USB kicks out, this is an issue with all KT266 boards, so u might want to go with AD11 though.

I also got tired of waiting for the Nforce and plumbed for an ECS k7s5a.
BTW do you think all these people buying the k7s5a will encourage ECS to make a more overclocker friendly BIOS? I've a feeliong that ECS are rather surprised at just how popular this board has been and may try to market towards the overclocker on a budget!

Go with the shuttle. You'll have the nForce in 2 months, at the most. Therefore you don't need to spend any extra money for the best boards out right now.

I don't know how one would go about doing this, but if you can figure out which board will have the highest value by the time nForce comes around, you will be able to sell that board to finance part of your nForce expenses. That's what I'm going to do with my MSI 133.

AGodspeed,

That's my plan exactly. Buy a board now for $100 sell it in a few months for $50 - $75 on Ebay.

I had read about the USB bug on the KT266 boards. That brings up another question. The Athlon chips above 1.2 are not multiplier locked, so is the FSB that big of a deal. I can overclock by bumping the multiplier instead of the FSB can't I? I am planning to get a 1.4
