I'd say it's more that liberals want an equal starting place and gravel to fill the pot holes during the race (i.e, preventing people from slipping through the cracks or having their lives completely ruined due to uncontrollable circumstances). They are willing to sacrifice some individual liberty to ensure they don't have to worry about catastrophe.

I won't pretend to know what Conservatives want...though I have some limited understanding. What they want isn't bad, it's just different, and in some ways even more optimistic than liberals appear to be.

I'd agree with this. Circumstance is a bitch, and sometimes progressive liberals go too far IMO in trying to mitigate it.

What conservatives want depends on the conservative. Like liberals, they are a diverse group with diverse opinions (really, I hate labels, but what the hell). Near as I can tell though, spidey is still pissed off about the 13th and 14th amendments. And what he really doesn't understand is that Ayn Rand hated people like him about as much as she hated socialists, and for much the same reasons. You have no right to abuse govt to protect you from other people and at their expense. That applies to the rich just as much as it does the poor.

Even Doctors under the healthcare plan purposed they can make up to only so much money so when they are done with that vacation the rest of the year and wait till next year when they can get paid for working.

Say goodbye to innovation! Should we be no longer rewarded in the market if we build a better widget? If it has taken thousands or millions of dollars to develop that widget but then the government says sorry you cannot make that much why bother trying to innovate? With a centeralized Government do we get to really keep what is ours? What if the government wants it? There is no more GM or Chrysler as we have known it.

Banks are told not reward anyone. Not even the sucessful honest hard working people. Everyone is bad. There goes all the talent. Anyone with a brain that was left will find a new place to work as their compensation is capped by a beaurcrat that could barely get a job in the mail room. Sure there are bad guys in each industry and they do not deserve gloden parachutes. I think they should get 2 weeks money and send them packing if they were stealing or frauding the company they should be prosecuted as well. But Branding all people in specific industries as bad and then taking over their companies and running them is not a recipe for long term success in America.

The government feels more and more entitled to our money. That is a problem. This is a limited Government for the people and not vice-versa. I do not support your utopian dream of a broke but fair America. Freedom isn't free. And Liberty is a punchline and not a right anymore. What has happened to Liberty? Why is pursuing it wrong now? Can we only have Life now?

Of course it was liberal welfare policies over the past 50+ years which created the whole welfare mom crack baby stereotype. When liberal welfare policies were put in place that basically told women that not only were fathers not needed, but they would get more money if they didn't have them around. Well there was only a natural result which was higher illegitimacy and generational poverty. Compare illegitimacy of black families between 1955, 1970 and 1985. It went from the low 20s% to greater then 70% (in 1955 whites had a greater chance then blacks of being born into a illegitimate family). All due to liberal welfare policies which had the government take the place of the fathers.

Whats happened as a result of liberal policies is a tragedy. They have created a permanent underclass in our society and they have no regrets about doing so. Why?

Because with liberals, results of their policies don't matter. Only their "good" intentions.

Universal Health Care reminds me of the movie Solient Green. What I want to say is that the soviet union and cuba are designed around this system where everyone is equal and everyone lives in the way that the state tells them. However, who has the better living conditions? The people trying to live free have a higher standard of living. I choose the system with the higher standard of living. If you want to choose breadlines and rationing fell free to move to Cuba or Moscow. At least there are no fat people there because everyone is starving to death and groveling for government rationed food.
