Tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS)

As Im heading off to drive to work, my TPMS light went off. I pulled over to check to see if all of my tires looked deflated; all looked normal. I suppose I'll go buy a tire pressure gauge this afternoon and check to see if all are inflated to their proper levels.

If that doesn't work, time to call the dealership.

I suggest just resetting it if all the tires are at a good level. Don't forget to check the spare!

The spare? The spare is under the car....

Modern radial tires can be up to 15 PSI underinflated without looking low from a visual check. You need to use a gauge.

Don't forget to reset the TPMS after adjusting tire pressures. My parents thought their TPMS was broken because it remained on even after they inflated the tires. I found out they didn't reset the monitor . . .

BTW, Snake mentioned checking the spare's pressure because people tend to neglect it. It sucks to have a flat tire AND a flat spare

Mine doesn't.

I have mine go off with swings in outside temp even though the air pressure is within normal limits. Especially warm to cold weather.

Some do some do not. I have never had one that told me which tire. It's not that hard to get out and check via my air gauge anyways

QFT Buy a gauge. If you can tie your shoes you can figure out how to use a tire gauge.

That must be one of the older ones? Mine displays the pressure of all 4 tires, and flashes "check right rear tire pressure" if the RR drops 3lbs below the highest tire.

One thing I have found is that pressure fluctuation is dependent on the tire. The factory tires that came on my car would set warnings off 2-3 times a week just because of normal flux in temps, but about 3 months ago I put a new higher quality set of tires on it and haven't gotten one warning since

If you have a BJ's nearby, the air pump is free, and well, so are the BJ's

Posting the cars you drive may be helpful.

Many cars will even tell you the PSI each tire is at and many won't even bat an eye when one has ripped off your fender.

I had a rental car which seemed to only have a light and no info on which tire, but it turned out that if I scrolled through the info center, the specific tire was listed there.

My mom's 07 or 08 Corolla doesn't specify which tire is low, it's just a general warning. The manual says if you inflate the problem tire enough the warning light should go off within a few minutes. There's also a reset button on the dash to the left of the steering wheel if necessary.

Everyone should own a tire pressure gauge anyway.

It's a 2008 Honda CRV EX AWD

I bought a digital tire pressure guage. The rear right tire was under the recommended PSI. I put air in it, and the tire pressure indicator went off.
