Ok so it's time for me to replace my tires on my 2006 Dodge 2500 4x4 and I want to ask around and see how long good tires usually run. I purchased my BFG All Terrain T/A KO exactly 4 years ago and I've put about 60,000 miles on them. I was planning on getting the same model of tire but is that a good life time for tires that run $255 a pop?

for a tire that doesn't have a wear rating, I would say 60k is damn good

holy shit. i'm happy if i get 10k out of mine! 5k and down to the wear bars right now 🙁 all things equal, that does include a handful of trackdays,

i wouldn't want tires that last 60k. be sure, they are good at nothing.

are you seriously relating your experience with what is likely some sort of sports car and high performance tires used at the track to 3/4 ton 4x4 offroad tires?

i was just giving a polar opposite. obviously a 4x4 will have different tire life than a high performance tire...

either way, 60k on the same tires is insane.

I had BFG AT's on my truck when i bought it(chev 3/4 ton 4x4) i found them good on road and for trails and rock but they were very lacking in traction in mud or snow. I swapped them out for Hankook Dynapro MT RT03 and so far the Hankooks destroy the BFG' AT's in traction in all situations, so much better in mud and snow, but to be fair it is a mud tire VS a all terrain tire.

As for wear i would think im going to get 40,000-50,000 Miles out of the hankooks, they are down to 80% and i put 9,800 miles on them so far.

I don't have to worry about mud or snow since I'm here in Texas. I really don't do any towing in it either. I'm usually in town driving but when out hunting it's mostly off road.

I got 70K out of my Michelin Primacys. Those tires are crazy long lasting, very quiet and smooth. Sure, max grip isn't as good as my Star Specs or RS-3's, but on my daily driver my needs are completely different.

never owned a truck but most trucks i've seen are on bald ass tires because people just dont know/care about their vehicles. I've been told truck tires wear faster then car tires. I pushed 80-85k on my yoko's but thats on a commuter car. I think 60k on any tire is in the good/great range.

My G35 had a new set of tires put in when i bought it at 34k, i'm at 60k now and its about near 40%. i'm AWD and go thru snow and a lot more abuse then normal cars. Plus a couple of 1/4 mile trips

My dad runs Michelin LTX M/S2's on our '99 ram 1500 and '02 Yukon. Tends to last 70k+ set and they run $200ish in the sizes we use on Tirerack.

I got 73K out of my OEM BFG RuggedTrail T/As on my 2002 TrailBlazer. A piece of metal through the sidewall destroyed my chances of getting to 80K like I thought I would. They were almost all highway miles. My second set which were the same (OEM for the TB) only lasted 45K due to strictly in-town driving. I switched at that point to Goodyear Fortera TripleTreads. They didn't last long (40K), and had terrible grip once they were 75% worn out, but they had excellent grip, were really quiet, were especially sure-footed on dry roads, and I got really good fuel economy on them. I switched to Michelin AT2's this last time. They have a a pretty aggressive tread, but are amazingly quiet. Aside from excellent wear, they wander all over the road, and my fuel economy is down 10% (I track it very closely). The Michelins were also by far the most expensive. I wish I could still get the deal I got on my OEM BFG replacements ($63 each + shipping from tirerack). The non-OEM version of the RuggedTrail in my size doesn't have near the life (put them on my sister's Envoy).

I have almost 70K on my Michelin Pilot HMXM tires, I am on the hunt too, though no truck tires, sedan tires.
I need 60K at least, I do 25K / yr, 50K is not enough life.

it all depends on how you run your tires.

you put 60,000 miles on your tires. that's really good.

I plan on getting 25-30k KM out of my Eagle F1 Supercars. They have 1500KM as of now.

i drive an F-350 for work, we drive off road about 50% of the time. I LOVE my Bridgestone duller Revo-2 tires. I am on my second set on my truck. I think i got about 40K out of them, but i really have no idea. I had my first set about 1 year. I haul near and over GVW loads regularly. Many of my co-workers have the BFG A/T KOs and like them, I had a few sets before these and prefer these. They are awesome in snow and ice and very good in mud. This week has been very very muddy in the field and i was able to drive without issues up steep hills that many trucks had to chain up to climb. We are having issues with the sidewalls on the BFGs separating for the past few months and i have convinced my management to go to the Revo2s.

our offroad driving is everything including sharp rocks, gravel, sand, deep mud, snow, ice, and sometimes all of that at the same time. We work in the oil field on locations all over Wyoming, and Northern Colorado.

If you drive off road or travel in winter conditions a lot I would value tire performance over price/mile.

i am planing on putting a set of these on my personal pickup also.
One of the well site leaders I work with all the time also uses these tires and loves them.

I run BFG TA KOs on my work truck and my FJ Cruiser.

On the work truck (Silverado 2500HD) with extensive offroad and washboard driving I chewed through a set of these tires in under 40k. Basically I knocked enough chucks out of the shoulder that I was getting nervous about how much exposed un-lugged rubber there was so I replaced them.

On the FJ Cruiser, the set lasted 56k and wore out fairly evenly. The FJ has a higher percentage of highway miles and is lighter weight than the Silverado so the tires didn't get as much abuse.

Anyway, these tires are still my first choice for on/off road truck tires. Offroad in my part of the world is mostly rock and gravel with a bit of sand with protruding rocks.
