Tips on running dual PSUs?

I need more power, my stock PSU is only 300W and I'm thinking of running a seperate one to power fans/HD/CDRW. Is there anything involved that I should know about? How do I turn everything on at the same time? The other power supply won't be an ATX one I believe.

try this site, i mod my other psu and it works. now i just need to modify my case to
accomodate my 2nd psu.
