Tips on how to survive an international flight?

Since you're flying Asiana (decent carrier, i.e. non-US airline), the entertainment they provide onboard will probably be pretty good, even in Economy class. At least it has been for me on other Asian carriers like Korean Air, Cathay Pacific, Japan Airlines, and Singapore Airlines.

The rest of the time, just sleep. It's not that hard for me, even when I've flown in Economy. In fact, the only time I actually stayed awake during a trans-Pacific flight was when I was in Business class, on a 16-hour flight from Singapore to Los Angeles. Only because I slept on the flight from India --> Singapore and in the airport, too. 😛

The flight should be around ~14 hours. Any tips? I was thinking of bringing a laptop with dvds but I'm not sure if the airplane has electrical outlets. (Asiana Air to South Korea) Nyquil just to sleep it out? I'm dreading the flight. What have you guys done?

there are eletrical outlets in the access panels. the cleaning crew uses it to vacuum. years ago b4 9/11, i used to remove the panel to keep my laptop charged.

nowadays, that WILL get you arrested.

as for surviving a 14hr flight, fly business class. the seats can recline 160 degrees. plus movies on demand.

poor man's entertainment-> pack of cards for solataire.

books too😉

Oooooh, if you're going to watch movies, I'd suggest ripping them to your hard drive and watching them from there, so you don't waste battery with the DVD-ROM.

Unless that's illegal, but I don't know why it would be since you're not sharing or torrenting it.

Nevermind. Stupid joke. Not funny. My bad.

They actually don't "recline" 160 degrees is what I was getting at.

 The entertainment provided on long-distance flights on US carriers is quite good as well.

There's a site that can tell you if electrical outlets are available if you know the plane and seat you'll be using.
I don't remember the site though...someone does.

Can anyone help with this?

First, make sure you have the emergency row. This will give you legroom. Get an isle seat so if you need to get up, you don't have to trump everyone, and also you can put the outside arm up and spread into the isle a little.

The prescription advice here is dubious - but if you go to a family doc that you know and just be honest and tell him you have a flight. You are going to be anxious, can you help me, he probably will do something for you.
