Tips for Problems with System Builds

I see a lot of posts on problems related to two things in these forums.

1.memoy timings being incorrect be set too high in that particular motherboard/bios and the memory itself so try to set it initally to best compatability best timing u can.

2.controller issues where we have more that the normal 4 hard drives and optical drives in a system. theres alot of hidden compatibility problem with devices conflicting with one another and that causes alot of the crashing a performance problems. So how do we fix that first get your system setup with no more that 4 drive and if you can just 1 controller and retest system. If problem appears to be gone then work your other devices back into your system 1 at a time. My best setup is to use cable select on the drives and install them hard master and cd/dvd slave then when that dont work keep hard drives and optical on seperate channels and put faster optical on primary channel. You may need to juggle around your system cards and and devices but you should be able to find a combo that works. Also turn off all the things in your BIOS your not using like sound, serial and parallel ports and MIDI stuff that frees up system resources. I hope this helps and If you have your on tips to share by all means post the here
