Hi there!

I am trying to build a new computer in the next few months but was wondering if I can get a few ideas from you guys.

I built my computer years ago, but the last 7 years or so i've only been buying pre-built computers and upgrading the graphics card and maybe adding some ram. I'm not opposed to buying all the parts and building it from scratch, but if there's a barebone system or a premade that I can just replace a few parts i'd lean more towards that.

I didn't see many deals so far on newegg/tigerdirect, do most deals around this time of the year come around BF and cybermonday? Or after christmas?

Sorry for all the noob questions...I recently just discovered this forum :)

Thank you for any ideas or suggestions!

bump for some help :)

I've found 3 barebone kits from newegg that seem to have a good starting point.
Trying to get a system that I can play current games(mostly WoW and SC2) at max settings. And be able to at least last me a few more years(possible crossfire/SLI upgrade)

Combo1

Combo2 without graphics card

Combo3 without graphics card

For graphics card. I'm leaning towards a GTX 460(been reading that it's the best prices for that price range). But if the next step up is a big enough of a jump in performance...I would seriously consider it? Is there any benefit to get an ATI over AMD cards other than personal preference?

Thank you guys for your help!

You should check out the General Hardware page. Lot's of what you're looking for there.
