I just got a haircut and it cost $13. I think that's rediculous on it's own. But I always feal wierd if I don't leave a tip. I usually leave $2 simply because i figure these girls can't be making that much money in the first place.

Well?

In 1985's "Teenwolf" Michael J. Fox complained about having a "ten dollar haircut" and you think $13 now is too much?

I go to herb's barber shop across the street from my office. It's $12, but I always pay $15. They do a haircut and a razor-blade (old school *blade* style) trim of the burns, neck line & goatee if you have one.

Most places, like CostCutters etc, suck and so I don't tip.

In 2000, in Potsdam, NY....it costs $4 for a damned haircut! $13 is highway robbery as far as I'm concerned.

yea $13 is outrageous but thats your fault for going there

It's my fault for living in CT

I live in CT too. I think it's $16 in my area. I usually tip a couple bucks too. I switched over to a local barber instead of a haircut place, this Italian guy. He gives awesome haircuts. He even has an old-school hot lather machine and uses a big knife to shave your neck and sideburns. Considering the price of haircuts anyway, the couple extra bucks gets me a real, real nice haircut.

I work for tips at the moment; therefore, I tip well, and probably always will. I would tip $4-5, but the 15-20% rule of thumb is fine, so $2-3 would be standard for a $13 bill.

I guess if you like Supercuts cutting your hair you can get it for cheaper. Me, I prefer the local barbershop. It costs $15, but there are some major plusses:
1) They speak english, a huge deal when trying to describe what to do
2) They are not Asian. I'm not being racist, it's just that every Asian person that's cut my hair only knows one way to do it: a 1, a 2, or a 3. That's not what I want at all, I want them to use clippers because I like my hair longer than most.
3) They aren't the idiots at supercuts
4) They have porn magazines for your viewing pleasure while you wait

In 2000, in Potsdam, NY....it costs $4 for a bad haircut! $13 is highway robbery as far as I'm concerned.

For a haircut, which I guess costs $13, I pay $15. Getting my hair twisted is $45; I pay $50.
