I'd actually be interested to hit Cuba and check out Finca Vigia myself and a few things now that it is a thing in the US.

It's nothing new from other countries I guess, but I was always a Hemingway fan.

I wonder if the Casinos there might start firing up again soon, but most of the Carribbean has stole a lot of that for a long time anyway.

Cuba is the plan next summer. We wanted to go there two years ago before it got too clogged with obnoxious Americans :D, but other things came up and we had to postpone. :(

I would love to visit Cuba. But I don't qualify for authorized travel.

I have yet to do other typical resort locations: Bahamas, Aruba, Hawaii, etc..

In general, I have a hard time not worrying about money. I guess I'm a cheap ass.

Good lord. What kind of person w no kids goes to Hawaii and spends time at a resort? Stick with the Caribbean for resorts. It's cheaper than paying to go to Hawaii and having the same resort experience.

Maybe they will have decent food there by that time....i've been told almost unanimously that Cuba has the worst food of all the resort areas in the Caribbean/Mexico

I've heard the same. Cuban food is generally pretty bland, especially when compared to other regional dishes that are rather similar. I imagine that with sanctions they just haven't had much access to non-native ingredients, which can only get you so far on an island...though that's only an embargo from the US, correct? Probably not a great explanation because they should be able to import from other countries, so it has more to do with Nationalized everything and strict controls and rationing from Castro.

I guess there's a reason that Russians survived on beets, cabbage, and mushrooms for all those years.
