tips for a soaked cell phone?

I took a swim with my trusty blackberry in my pocket. when I discovered it, the screen was blank and it was vibrating like mad.

is there anythin special I should do besides making sure it's perfectly dry before popping the battery back in?

I have lots of data I need on there, so I sure hope it's ok.

if its salt water, you are pretty much screwed.

if it was on while in freshwater, you may very well be screwed

if it was off while in freshwater, there is a good chance it is fine, just let it dry for a few days

let it dry, simple as that. My buddy's brother took his sony p100 digital camera for a swim with him....waited it out and it works with no problems.

I had a Fujifilm Finepix A210 take a seawater splash on the beach, waited it out and it hasn't missed a beat.

Cross your fingers and hope for the best...

Wash it with bottled water, dry it in a cool area.
Never turn it on unless it's completly dry.

Again, Make sure you wash it with bottled water instead of tab water.

washes off any possible salt or other corrosives from the circuits, which could possibly connect two of them and short 'em out 🙁

I dropped my Canon A75 in a lake while I was hiking. I tried turning it on (stupid me) and a spark came out and it didn't turn on. But the next day it was fine after drying.

Take it apart and let it dry overnight or longer, and it should be fine. Just make sure you take the battery out and don't try to turn it on until it's completely dry.

well, unfortunately I didn't dry it off with bottled water. I just let it dry in front of a fan overnight. Now it won't turn on though and it's acting funny. I took it apart, but FORTUNATELY it looks like those fantastic blackberry engineers actually sealed the circuit board internally -- when you unscrew the casing and remove it, there is a piece of plastic stuck onto the board with adhesive or melting or something.

anyway, I'm going to start a new thread since my concern is no longer how to deal with drying it; I have another question now
