great thread, but out of curiosity, why is there a gtb55447 and a gtb55447work? two different people or are you just bored or what? not trashing you, just curious

I followed the tips on the IRQ re-assignments. Under Device Manager and COMPUTER...I have 2 STANDARD PC's showing up. Is this normal? Please advise.
and now the computer doesn't shut off automatically; I have to press he turn off button [oh, no!]. This has to do with the power management, doesn't it?
If I decide to go back to the original settings, will that change the IRQ assigments back to the original settings as well?
Please advise.

This is my first time here so don't be too mean. What does bump mean? Alot of you seem to think this thread should be bumped.
 
When you post a thread it goes to the top of the list. If no one has posted on it for a while it falls pages back. People will post "bump" on it so it goes back to the top of the list.

NP on the shutdown tip after switching to Standard PC. It only took me 2 days to figure it out 🙂
 
Hi guys

Great thread going on here! 🙂 I've used a lot from this thread to tune my W2K. But I was wondering: In W98 the folder which Windows Explorer starts up to is the root of C: (or whatever your first harddrive is called). But in W2K (and ME) it starts up to My Documents. This is a little bit irretating. I saw a way to do it a couple of weeks ago, but I just can't remember 🙁

Please note that just saying "c:\winnt\explorer.exe c:" start it up in "c:" but without the folders tree visible regardless of the folder options in W2K.
 
I've found out that if you've create a link from the file "c:\winnt\explorer" then it will work but only when starting it directly from link 🙂 🙂 🙂

But I still wan't it to be launched from the explorer.exe file so I can use my Logitech buttons on my keyboard (the program only accepts *.exe)
 
I've found another solution to the Windows Explorer problem 🙂

Use the following syntax: "C:\WINDOWS\EXPLORER.EXE /n,/e,C:\" without the quotes. The "C:\" may be replaced with any folder you like.

This syntax works with all apps 🙂

Go to add hardware wizard.... then when it asks to detect hardware or select your own choose select your own.
