Tip Thread: Does this make me look cheap?

ok, so i've been going to the same barber for a few years now. my haircut usually costs $13. I give a $20, get $7 back from barber. i always give $5 and pocket the other $2. should i just give the whole $7? does it make me look cheap for pocketing it? i'd rather not pay any tip.

My haircuts usually cost $15 and I tell them to keep the change from a $20. If you're cheap then I'm even cheaper percentage-wise. While that's a possibility I wouldn't discount too quickly, I don't think it's true in this case.

where I live you don't pay tips to barber.
A simple haircut costs 23$ though 😛
cost of life is higher here though

I'd keep with the 5$. You always gave him 5$, if you lower that amount you'll look cheap, if you raise it it's too much.

You tip him??

That's fine. I always give my barber a $20 bill for a $15 haircut. It's simple and easy and the tip is a generous amount (33&#37😉. If it was only $13 I'd still tip $5; I wouldn't increase that amount to $7.

$3 tip + charge it.

or ask for $7 on 1's

my cuts, before i started cutting my own, was $4.75 and I would just tip $2. Any more would be way too much considering...

I always gave my guy more at Christmas time though.

Mine is $12 for a haircut and I tip $3. Considering my haircut is done in a matter of under 5 minutes and usually I have to diagnose her computer problem, I don't feel bad about 25% for the tip.

I'd be laughing behind your back at $2 buck scrooge.
