Tip for Dish install guy or no?

I'd offer them a drink. A few bucks is nothing over the day for the guy. Something cool and refreshing for getting up on a hot roof and running all kinds of cable is nice to get.

Some of you actually provide alcohol to people working on your house? Yes, a single beer should not be a problem, but way take that risk. At the same time, why would someone accept a beer while on the job.

Hahaha.. because the dude who's job is to get on your roof and install a fvcking dish doesn't already drink like a fish.

a beer isn't going to hurt anything, nor impair judgement. If I went shot for shot with him perhaps, but not a beer.

What's wrong with having a few beers at lunch?

You don't have to tip anyone, ever.

exactly... does he not get paid for whatever he does?

i have never understood this American fascination with equality and then this constant fretting over when and how much to tip... don't waiters in restaurants get wages? why should they live on your handouts???
that doesn't sound very american to me...

I don't see why you'd tip the guy; he's paid to do a job.

A waitress on the other hand, is paid less because they expect to receive tips.

then that is nothing but restaurants ripping you off and you consumers agreeing to be ripped off... why is the restaurant as a buisness any different from the laundry or the Circuit city or the cinema??? do you tip the guy at CC who helped you pick a camera model??

Waitresses are paid under minimum wage, because they are depending on the tip.

I guess its a way for resturants to sell food cheaper, or something. Kind of like a car salesman on commision, if he doesn't sell a car, he won't make much money. If a waitress doesn't serve a customer or its not a busy night, they won't make much money.

we are so rich in america we can afford to tip people for their services, if we deem them as good hard working people. some people tip out of habit, but i know i would NOT tip some one if they did an unsatisfactory job. call it karma or whatever you want, but a tip doesnt have to be money in the first place.
