I drive 40 miles to go to the FedEX ground location and they say I cant pick up the package because I am only 20 (apparently dell wanted an adult, 21 or older to sign for it) , yet I am the one who ordered the monitor from dell and paid for it with my credit card, and its under my name.

I have never heard of this BS! My parents live even further from the fedex ground lcation, wth am I going to do, haha.

I am shocked that I cant sign for my own package!

At least it was only 240$ for a NEW 2007WFP

That sucks, we get Dells in daily at work and we sign for them. We were joking about the "adult signature required" just the other day. Funny, didn't think they'd be strict about it.

I've seen a few companies lately with this policy (EVGA RMA for one).

It doesn't affect me now but when I was 17-21 I spent a TON of money on PC hardware & I'd have been seriously pissed if I couldn't sign for my own package.

I understand why they're doing it, but it still blows.

QFT, as I am still in that stage of buying oodles of PC parts for friends and other people to build them computers at a slightly better rate then dell but with better quality ..much better quality.

i've had a few things shipped to me via dell recently and they never even asked for my id (i'm over 21 but don't really look it). i've also gone to fedex when i was under 21 and never had problems signing for a package.

no, I got a coupon for 40$ off of a 2007WFP (off ebay for 2$) and it worked like champ.

Yeah I dont really understand that reasoning. You paid with your credit card and the packing slip had your name, and you had your ID which matched everything I'm sure. It seems like they'd be worse off letting some other person sign for it that doesn't have that info.

Typically. Alabama -- being Alabama -- you have to be 19 to be considered an adult. At 18 you cannot buy tobacco, sign contracts, etc

yeah, the lady even said as long as someone comes in with my tracking number and is over 21 with an ID can sign for it...I was like wtf? so if ANYONE had my tracking number and a real or fake id they could just up and take it...I dont like that!
