I was quoted by a shop near my work place that does automotive and commerical building window tinting for $150 for 4 side windows and back window. They use Solar Gard window film and guarantees their work for the life of the car from peeling, cracking, bubbling and turning purple. They look like a small mom and pop shop but they have been in business for about 15 years now. I've also seen their work on a few of their own cars and the quality looks top notch.

Is this a fair price because I've seen a few other places advertising they can do it for $70-80? Also is Solar Gard a good brand or should I try to find a place that uses 3M film?

That seems about right for CA. When you say 4 windows, are you talking about something like a Suburban or a sedan with two panes on the rear windows?

You're paying for their labor and expertise; the film cost is very little. If you know they do good work and they stand behind it, what's not to like?

I had Solar Gard put in a car of mine about 5 years back. It's held up quiet well. No bubbling or peeling.

We have a 3m solar gard in our area as well. I think one of the most imporant things about tinting windows is putting the time forth. They will actually pre-cut the tinting to fit the windows perfectly according to factory specs. They also use special chemical/glues so that it binds to the window.

150 sounds about right, retail.

ask if the back is 1 piece of 2 piece. a good place should do the back window with 1 piece.
