I guess the compilers of the list figured those ones were a little too popular.

Any Heinlein(though my wife is a bigger fan of his books), Frederick Brown, Orson Scott Card. Though with the Foundation series I was rather disappointed in the ending. Along with the Dune series turned into. I just find it's rather weak to develop a plot around sex based culture. It seems like some great stories go this route to get to a hurried end...

I loved Heinlein as a kid but I find his fascination with the sexuality of 13 year old girls rather disturbing. Maybe he was writing with a 13 year old male audience in mind.

I thought "The Moon is a Harsh Mistress" was one of his better books. Once I started reading "Stranger from a Strange Land", I started to get a little weirded out by similiar books. Herbert did that to Dune... :Q

Now Card on the other hand has some very fascinating stories, without the use of gratuitous sexual content.

So am I the only person who thought that TKAMB was a horrible book? It was so boring, I can see the messages and lessons and whatother nonsense bullshit the author was trying to get across, but I'm still amazed that anyone was ever able to make it through the book to find them.
God I hate that book. I honestly tried to read it, the only part I was able to make it through was the court scene, the rest I had to use spark notes.

Ender's Game was an awesome book, loved it, read it all in one sitting, also one of my favorite books Dragon Weather, don't think it's really "100 Best Novel" material, but it's one of my favorites. It's part of a trilogy, the first one is by far the best IMO, the second is good, but a little lacking in action for my taste, and the third one is ok, there's parts that I really enjoy, but its all just, a bit off, I guess, I don't know how to describe it, first one is excellent though. I've read a few of the others on there I think, not entirely sure anymore, I read the internet now more than anything.

edit:I'm looking for some new good books to read, it's so rare that I find a book that I enjoy enough to finish anymore, I loved Ender's Game, as I just stated, and ones such as the one I linked and LOTR, the fantasy adventure type things. If you've got any suggestions, reply or pm me, I've actually wanted to read a good book lately, I just don't know of any...

I've read a whole mess of those, probably > 20%. Of those, I'm thankful I got to read, "Their Eyes Were Watching God" and "Things Fall Apart." Lots of people probably don't get assigned those books in school.

It's too bad there's no Thomas Wolfe on the list.

I wonder if they were ranked if Gatsby would be #1.

I did as well, had to read it for the same class as TKAMB, such a waste of time...

I read 10. My absolute favorite would have to be Catch 22. Fvcking hilarious book and there is no writing style like He!lers. Other favorites of mine that are on there are 1984, Things Fall Apart, LOTR . I absolutely hated Catcher in the Rye, Gatsby, There Eyes were Watching God, and To Kill a Mockingbird. Animal Farm and The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe were okay. I'm kinda surprised that Ray Bradbury isn't on there. I loved Fahrenheit 451.
