Time Warner Roadrunner free upgrades to 5Mbps starting January, as high as 8Mbps

The higher speeds are available in New York City starting Tuesday and will roll out to the rest of the country in January.

man i'm pissed, I want to move.....in surrounding areas people can get roadrunner or comcast and where I live a company called Comporium aka the DeViL, provides all these services and will they ever upgrade......NO!!!!
 
Are you really going ot notice any different unless you are doing BT or file transfers? For standard internet downloading you're limited by the host more than you are your own connection aren't you? I'd much rather have them keep the speed the same and lower my bill.

They are. Everything goes up 1Mbps (at no additional cost) as of January.

that small 1mb bump didn't do anything for me...not to mention the upstream was still capped at low low speeds. The only time I experience the speed bump was at 2:00AM...I know because I stayed up that one time...other than that, bandwidth meter shows no change.

bellsouth needs to fiber up my neighborhood so I can get that new 10MB/10MB deal they're about to roll out 🙂

I think they should bump the upload speed....you're right about the download speed, I hardly notice it. Now if they say bump the upload to 1.5-3Mb....I'd jump on that

I have never been yelled at about using more than 1GB a month, I probabkly average 10-20 gigs a month downloading

They're referring to newsgroup limits.

I'm on 4 MB/384 right now, the boost to 5 MB will be much appreciated. Hopefully they'll throw us power users a bone & give us at least 512K upload as well. More would certainly be nice, but even 512K would be a nice boost.

Referring to the RoadRunner newsgroups .. I see.

If anyone here is using RR newsgroups, you should really look into a dedicated newsgroup server for you will have much more available to be downloaded.

No, I'm just complaing about them in general. They give you all this bandwidth, and then go nuts when you use more than a fraction of it.
