Time Warner Cable Bill Question

Looking at my TW Cable bill now. I don't understand what a Franchise Fee is and why the hell am I paying for it every month. :|


Franchise Fee $5.10
 
You pay it because they have to pay it to the government. Speaking of Time Warner I need to go pay my bill.
 
My cable bill is one of my larger monthly expenditures. Irks me, but I gotta have the pay stations and the RR internet access.

So.. to get them back, I run 5 computers off my one IP. 😛
 
When I think of Franchise Fee, it sounds like I should have some ownership of the company. Maybe I do. As part company owner, decided to snake cable lines into all of the bedrooms for cable TV and only pay for 1 ipaddrsss while using 2 PC's. OK. I feel better now. 😀
 
Gittyup, how much has you bill increased since they merged? I remember them saying this should allow for cheaper cable and internet access. Guess they where wrong. 🙁
