Time Warner .............. A Monolpoly of a company ?

<< You can't even begin to understand the meaning of a monopoly until you move to Canada 🙁 >>

Explain please.

In Canada, many of the services we have are controlled by monopolies:

Cable services - Rogers
Telephone services - Bell Canada
Wine and Beer - Government controlled

Etc. Etc.

<< I think AOL/Time Warner is a much bigger monopoly than Microsoft is. >>

Amen. My cable bill has continued to rise exponentially, despite the so-called "caps" that were put on cable prices by Fed., state, and local regulators.

It's just like the big tobacco "settlement". The companies aren't being penalized at all - to pay the settlements they just raised the price of cigarettes by $2.00 a pack. They're still making record profits on top of what they pay out towards the settlements. How is this any penalty to them. It isn't. The lawyers involved made out even better. They received $8 Billion for their "work".

You can move up to Canada and steal satellite, then you will eliminate the TV bill! (note: stealing satellite is not illegal in Canada. One of the few perks)

Hmmm... but the government does things like tell Rogers and Shaw and Bell high speed internet has to be no more than $40. That is cheaper than the States. I see your point, but Canada is 1/10th the population, shouldn't there be 1/10th the companies?

lamplighter -> I can see your point about the 1/10 pop, 1/10 companies. However, it would be nice if we had a choice.
