What were the odds on the cubs.. wasn't it like 1300:1?

Cheers!

IIRC going into the future is the easy one. All you have to do is travel really fast, close to the speed of light. Come back to earth and depending on how fast you went and for how long, you could be in the very far future. Creepy. In fact, supposedly the space shuttle comes back down and its clock is out of sync with the ones on earth; not because it's a crappy clock, but because they were traveling so fast.

And from reading the recent black hole thread, I guess gravity affects time too. A person floating in space would have a different rate of time passage as someone that lived on jupiter. Kinda weird to think that even if it's trivial in scale, that your head actually ages at a different rate than your toes. :) (I can't remember which one goes faster/slower though)

This is true. The problem is that we can't currently go nearly fast enough to notice any significant time difference.

This explains it

I don't know, I was really just referring to BTTF. But I could imagine the oddsmakers (if that's a word) didn't put much faith in the cubs winning it all this year.

I get that part. But how would one go BACK in time?

I remember seeing something about a theory for backwards time travel. It involved creating a point with huge mass and gravity, and then... I forget the rest. Something like taking a shortcut across it or something like that. It's really vague in my memory.

I'd prolly just visit famous people and chill with them, like smoke a "pipe" with Tolkien, then go back further smoke out Caesar...then I'll smoke out...what were we talking about again?

This is easy. I'd go back to the time of "Jesus's" ministry. Be nice to get the facts straight from the source :)

I'd go back to the late 60's, and smoke, drink and listen to zeppelin like there's no tomorrow. :)

5 billion years from now. About the time the Milky Way and Andromeda galaxies combine. Also about the time that the sun starts to swell.

Read the Book "Timeline" by Michael Chriton then you wouldn't want to go.

For me I'd like to meet Jesus unfortunately no one speaks english back then (except Jesus) so finding him without speaking the language would be hard (probably be stoned or caught by Romans be worth it to meet him.) I'd love to get a pic and post it here to shut up the religion bashers but I'm sure that wouldn't stop them fearing the unknown.

Really though isn't that someone you'd like to meet? Or you'd like to disprove if you don't believe in him to be the son of God and just a be prophet or something.

i read a theory that if one goes past the speed of light, time goes backward. that might be a way to go back in time

What, no John Titor cracks yet? :p Not even a "lets get rid of Hitler to see if the plot/premise for C&C Red Alert holds true? Hehe...you could really have fun altering some timelines just to see what would happen. But the whole inadvertently erasing your own existance part might suck.
Anyway, I'd prob go back first to give myself some advice. Then I'd go back an just see some cool stuff in the ancient world, but I wouldnt stick around too long for fear of catching some desease of getting stoned by the locals.
