I'm a AMD man for sure. Really haven't been on top of things but I see AM3 is coming out soon. Is it even worthwhile to upgrade right now or just wait it out for AM3? Seems like for 300ish I could snag the top phenom, mobo and some ram. But if AM3 is gonna be a big step up Ill just wait. Oh man things I'll be doing are WoW and alot of encoding.
 
Yeah, my thoughts exactly, wait and see if AMD can catch Intel with Phenom II. Right now the best system for encoding work by far is the Intel i7.
 
Snag a qualified 790gx and an X2 7750 (or even a 4850e if you want to be 'frugal').

The AM3 2.8Ghz Deneb won't be out until at least April - and prices won't be down until late next Fall
