Time To Upgrade?

My computer is mainly for games, but I use it for music and other stuff too. Here's my system.

AMD Athlon 64 3500+ Winchester (Stock fan and heatsink)
Corsair 512MB PC3200
DFI LANPARTY UT nF4 Ultra-D
Seagate Barracuda 7200.9 SATA2 80GB
Western Digital IDE 80GB
BFG 6800 GT OC PCI-E
Antec Lanparty Case
Antec Neo Power 480

I feel like I really need to upgrade to my RAM, at least to 1GB, maybe even more. My main goal in creating this thread is to get suggestions for new RAM. I was thinking of getting the Corsair Value Select 1GB (2x512MB) Dual Channel, but I'm not 100% sure. Any other suggestions for other parts would be great too.

Thanks in advance.

I have the corsair valuselect 1GB (2x512MB) and it really sped my PC up. I am planning on getting another set of it and bumping it up to 2GBs.

I would definetly throw in another 512mb of ram. If you can get a dual channel set of 2x512mb. At least. That is an awesome mobile with a hell of a lot more performance than the components you currently have. If you have the funds you should get a x2 chip, I'd say at least a 4000+x2. Also take advantage of SLI and get 2 7800gts. I hope this helps. You will kick ass in your games. Hehe anyways have a good one dude.

welcome to the forums and thanks for saving me 5 minutes worth of typing...lol, good job!!!

Update, I just bought the Corsair 1GB TWINX1024-3200C2PT XMS RAM. I was thinking I could upgrade my CPU and MAYBE my graphics card. I was thinking this was the time to upgrade because of AMD's price drop. Remember, I use this computer mainly for games and sometimes photoshop and other various programs. Can anyone recommend me a new processor and graphics card?

A new graphics card depends entirely on your budget. Besides, if it plays the games you want now, it is not a real priority. Unless you already have a buyer lined up for your cpu, you probably don't need to upgrade that either.

well now would be a good time to jump to dual core as some of the anandtech reviews have stated if you wanted to go dual core but you don't want to buy a new motherboard, processor and ram you can upgrade your processor to a dual core X2/Opteron and Oc it

Gaming is GPU depedent so if your having problems with newer games and your fps that would be your best bet.

I'd actually suggest getting 2GB at least

value select would do it either corsair or ocz
