Right off the back, ill start by saying i know nothing about hardware. OK, so I have a Gateway G6 p2 400 mhz cpu, 128mb ram, and a v5 5500. I've been told that the v5 is very cpu dependent. So i guess what I need to do is get a faster processer. Can I just slap in a p3 700-800 in my comp?... or is it much more difficult than that? Do i need a new mother board too? ..im competely lost here! help!
 
yes you will need a new mobo, and then you have to check if all your other hardware is compatible with your new mobo. i think the p2 stopped at 400, or was it 450? i am not sure, but if you want to go a lot higher you will need a new mobo guaranteed.
