Ugh...Elvis is an idiot...the beatles are boring.

The Rolling Stones are tolerable so they win by default...

But if I had to listen to one of the 3 for the rest of my life...well I'd stop listening to music.
Failing that I'd puncture my ear drums.

I don't like any of the three, but the Beatles were definitely the most talented. Their songs were often well-written, even if I didn't care for their interpretation. I like a lot of the covers of their songs more.

frm what i know...(although i've learnt to appreciate the greatness of the beatles only recently)

the beatles no doubt...

the following are a few of the influences of the beatles ( im not a fan of the beatles in the truest sense just listen to a few songs)

1. Arena Rock filled with rabid fans.( Shea Stadium)
2. Mass hysteria among fans for their idols ( was there for elvis but look at Shea to see what the beatles had)
3. Writing and Producing their own music.
4. Making Albums in which songs are tied together by a theme rather than a collection of singles.
5. The liberal and the great broad minded america as we know of today.
6. Concept of a rock band as we know today, one with a rhythm guitar, lead guitar, bass guitar and the drummer.
7. Progressive Rock.
8. A Hard Day's Night
9. the influence of the Monty Python series in our culture
10. Youth activism.
11. expensively produced albums.
11. on a lighter note...hair bands...:)

the Bad Influences:

1. Drugs Drugs Drugs
2. Free Sex Free Sex ( Free Sex ok but effect on society was profound....i think faithfulness has decreased after that...)
3. Liberal Idealogy going too far.
4. stupid unpractical non-conformist behaviour.
5. Oldies constantly hammering the youth on how they had a good time in the 60s and how we are missing all of it.;)

  (NEW!)

<< Beatles no question.
<< My opinion is that the more acid they dropped, the worse their music became. Those albums you listed are the acid-induced songs.
Again, in my opinion, they sound more "experimental" than musical. Yellow submarine? Come on. Catchy, yes, but crap nevertheless. >>
You're crap nonetheless ;) IMO, the Beatles post-concert era was better than before. Day in the Life, When I'm 64, Benefit of Mr. Kite, Day in the Life, Hey Jude, I Am the Walrus, Yesterday, Revolution, Come Together, With a Little Help from my Friends, Help!, I could go on and on. The sheer volume of high quality music crushes any competetion. Stones, and Elvis shouldn't mentioned in the same sentence. >>
I've got video's of several of these, including live versions. What do you mean?

I wasn't trying to imply that all they're good music was produced afterwards, just that most were. Those were just a few songs off the top of my head, that were good, not specific to the post-concert era.

Since when is it "hip" to like the Beatles?
