I have no problem with people that are supposed to be here (legal aliens and such) but when the illegals have more rights and priveleges than citizens, well there's something wrong. My parents lived in south Texas a few years back and the border jumpers who made it were getting preferential treatment. Citizens' children trying to attend school were denied because the space was filled by illegal immigrants. I know these people work hard and I can't fault them there. They work harder than union employees and for much cheaper, that's for sure, but they don't belong here and shouldn't be draining our system. Find a legal way in please. Another thing, the "refugees" from Cuba; if they make it ashore, they are allowed in. If caught at sea, they are sent back. What kind of logic is that?

On the one hand, you have to consider that they're most likely trying to make a better life by coming here to the US, but on the other hand, there needs to be some control over the situation on our part. I don't think any of us has the answers, and we probably never will....

that sums it up, i feel pity towards those that have to make that sacrifice and move like that, but laws are laws, if they can't respect the citizenship/immigration laws, who's to say they'll respect the others?

maybe if this will change somebodies mind but i know a couple illegals and like some have said i have never seen people work so hard. some people think illegals are trouble but i think they help the economy of this country.the way you stop them from crossing the border is that dont give them any jobs intill that does not happen like it or not live with it :0)

a while back, illegal's were protesting to give themselves more rights or something at some university up north....WTF?!?!? They have no say in our laws and they're up here causing a ruckus!?!?!? that pissed me off...
it's what Capitalism is, the basis of America. Screw other people to make your life better. You make money for yourself, you're denying that opportunity for someone else. The immigrants come here for better opportunities to work, and they get those opportunities, but they are payed way under what they should get for what they do because they are not 'legal', but this is what keeps the prices down for our products. Also why we import so much from other countries, because we can get cheap labor elsewhere where the laws aren't as strict. Same idea here because the laws arae only enforced against the employers when they are found to be hiring illegal immigrants, otherwise, they can treat them however they want becuase if the workers don't comply with the employer--complain to someone about working conditions, they're getting deported.

apparantly irony is difficult to detect here. incidentally, most illegals I know drive slow as $hiet because they're so scared of the cops pulling them over. Anyway, my point is that legislation != morality. In fact lots of laws, like most speeding laws, are enforced in such a way as to give police officers a very substantial amount of discretion, which more or less equals arbitrary discrimination.

Legal immigrants have followed the proper path that the people of the US have chosen to admit new residents. Anyone here in violation of the law should be booted out until they manage to get legal residence. Is that being racist or xenophobic? Of course not, that's an idiotic leap of logic. It would be a disaster if we tried to deport all the illegals back to their homelands. Good luck finding anything in your locall supermarket, and anything that would be there would cost 2x as much. IMO, the only illegals that should be summarily deported are those from middle eastern countries, given that they pose a substantially greater risk than your average Mexican picking corn. If an illegal gets convicted of a crime, deport him. But, if he has done nothing wrong besides being here illegally, then take a look at his situation. If he is being a productive member of society, let him stay. If he's a leach on our public systems, get rid of him. But to categorically deport illegals would be a catastrophe.
Yes, let's get rid of productive young students because their paperwork lapsed. They are a drain on the economy running their own store, and all I can see is them raping our daughters and blowing up our buildings.

They get those oppurtunities because they do the work that lazy ass americans won't do, this country was built by immigrants, not a bunch of lazy ass people punching letters on a keyboard all day.

FYI, most international students pay up the ass for college and aren't elligable for financial aid. That's why colleges love them. Guess what? They're subsidizing artificially low tutition for state residents and the like. Yeah, get rid of those bastards.

I'm sure they would rather immigrate legally rather than paying their life savings to be smuggled across the border. Problem is our immigration policy is very restrictive to people we want to keep out. Back in the early 90s there was a TV show called TV Nation hosted by Michael Moore (who has since turned into a raving loon I think) that poked fun at all things political. To show how lax our border with Canada is compared to Mexico, he had a bunch of Canadians run across the border at an actual border crossing. No one stopped them. So then he dressed a bunch of guys up in Canadian hockey uniforms, gave them rollerblades and sticks, and had them skate across the border. No one stopped them. We only want to prevent immigration by people we don't like. He surveyed Americans and Canadians one time to see how many knew the other country's head of state. Hardly any Americans knew who the Canadian prime minister was, but all of the Canadians knew who our president was. I think it was Alabama or Mississippi that sort of forgot to ratify the 13th amendment until 1996 - so (before 1996) he got a bunch of white guys whose wives were willing to sell them as "slaves" to a black guy, and he paraded them around to a bunch of politicians. It was pretty funny. Good show.
