Good luck, put some form of linux on it instead of winblows. I'm using Fedora to post this and it rocks!

Yea, I need to do it soon too.............

Its amazing how much crap you gather over the months (or years)

I knew it was time when I had over 50 gigs of programs...I dont need 50 gigs worth of programs!!!!

The boy installs games that he plays once and forgets about. I had tons of things that I didnt use anymore. I consider this my version of spring cleaning.

off-topic but why do you want us to let you know if we see dvdrdiscs posting? just curious 🙂

nevermind: i just learned why after reading that thread. hilarious cause 😀 i am sure he got a new username, and still pposts 🙂

Just did it here... and discovered Ghost. Now, I can reformat my c: drive daily/weekly/monthly... whenever I feel like it, without dreading reinstalling all the drivers, downloading all the updates from microsoft, etc. Then, if there are any new updates - install them, then create a new ghost image to CD. The whole format/reinstall process takes under 10 minutes now... Give it a try if you've never tried it before.

Drive Image 7 blows Ghost away big time.

it's still a pain to reinstall all your apps again..

it's great to not have to resetup all your customized windows settings, though. I just hate that by the time it comes around for me to reformat, the OS and most of my programs are obsolete...so i end up having to reinstall everything manually anyway.

Phew, thank God you were able to reformat safely 😛 Seriously though, how in the hell did you have 50 gigs of programs 😕

Maybe he means "programs" as in "anything not part of the OS". Like music, movies, games, programs, etc.

50gigs IS a lot. I have a TON of space-hogging development and graphics programs (maya, photoshop, MX 2004 suite, VS.NET 2003, entire MSDN, and JBuilder). And i still use less than 35 gigs.

is drive image that much better....
Yes it is.

No messing around with boot disks or dos type environments.

Drive Image 7 works beautifully. Send the image to a seperate partition, networked drive, DVDR or CD. Compress the hell out of it or not. To restore an image, just boot off the Drive Image CD and navigate to the image file and BAM! you are done.
