Well, I haven't done much gaming recently, and I've been waiting for a good RPG, but there are no good ones out now. I want a decent game that has a good single player experience and good graphics. I never play online so multiplayer is unimportant.

I'm currently leaning toward Far Cry as the price has dropped to about $35. I have a moderately high end system, a P4 2.4C @ 3.3Ghz, 1GB PC3500, overclocked 9800 Pro, on an Abit IS7.

I just reloaded SW:KOTOR, and I tried to get into it, but my utter dislike of anything Star Wars keeps me from getting into it.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Other games I'm considering are Painkiller, and possibly Doom3, but it's still around $50.

**Update**

Thanks for all the help guys...I went with Far Cry and COD. Far Cry was $39 and COD was $29.

It's a shame you do not like Star Wars, KOTOR was a great game.

Morrowind if you never played it. Strictly single player, but very indepth and can be very time-consuming. It's old but it's good.

Yeah, old games are out. It has to be at least semi-current generation graphics.

Beat it long ago....great game and it took forever. I have the expansion packs somewhere, but I'm just not into it ATM.

Max Payne 2 perhaps?

Hmmm...a possibility. I had a hard time getting into Max Payne 1 though....think I still have it kicking around here somehwere. Is it fairly long?

I was into Deus Ex:Invisible War for awhile, but it got to a point where I lost interest...

It had that System Shock 2 feel at first...

I have not...how long is it? I did enjoy MOHAA, and it's one of the few FPS's I enjoy playing over and over.

I think it took me about 20 hours of playing time to beat COD, the graphics were good and the gameplay rocked.

I enjoy an RPG that is not linear and has a huge world to explore. I would spend hours just walking around checking things out. It's a shame there aren't more games like that.

Haha, I was never able to finish it either. Lately I've been toying with the idea of picking it back up.

All right, I'll check that out.

Any opinions of Far Cry? I know the graphics are great (I'm a graphics whore) , and I've heard it's a fairly long single player game.

Edit:

BTW, I usually order games from GoGamer, and I'm not a fan of EB games. Are there any other reputable game vendors out there. I vaguely remember GameVE, but I don't remember if they were good or not.

If you enjoyed MOHAA, there's no reason why you wont enjoy COD. It's like MOHAA, only better and a more immersive experience. You wont regret it, and its selling pretty cheap now.

Stay away from Doom3 for now, atleast until it falls to $20. You wont regret this either.

CD.

You can search the For Sale forum and find those games in the $20-$30 range.

I would get Doom3 just for the graphic.
I tried Far Cry for a bit but it was a graphic hog for my system.

One game I truely enjoyed was Serious Sam II. I liked it so much I played it twice.
The weapons are just kickass and it was just FUN !!!
So people tel me to try Painkiller cause its similar but I tried it for about 2 levels and I have to hard time enjoying it so far.

Ok, how about Silent Hill 4? I really enjoyed Silent Hill 3 on PC. IT seems only EB Games has it though. :(

Go gamer doesn't even list it, Gamestop has only the Xbox and PS2 versions. It is only $29.99 @ EB world though.

Yea, too large of a game for single player it seemed.

To bad cause it was kinda fun for the time I played it.

I've had SS2 for awhile. It's ok, but it gets tedious.

baldurs gate 2 .... immense game, many many hours of play, made by the legendary Black Isle. Also Fallout series (Fallout 2 is awesome runs a very close second to BGII, and is very fun to play (you can be a porn star, grow frut from your head etc.)

old black isle RPGs are the best in terms of story line and gameplay, i have not played a single game that ranked even close to BG2 and Fallout 2 (i have yet to try (since i cant find it anywhere) Torment) Morrowind was good but all it had too much pointA ---> Point B travel. I got fed up with that and just started using "coc". I still play it now (with the balmora expansion) but it still seems a bit hollow to me. NWN might be good for people not familiar with the D&D system but i'll argue that BGII allows you more direct control over your group and has a small squad tactics appeal to it.

I say if you havent tried em go buy Fallout2 and baldurs gate I and II (if you are interested in the storyline if you are not then just get II) now they will cost you at most $40 for all three ( BG I and II and bg II expansion come in one box now) and you will be quite busy with all of these.
