Time to invest in arms / ammunition?

Thought about stacking up on 7.62 myself. I'm almost POSITIVE tons of people have that same mindset.

So, in every down market there is an up somewhere, will this be one of them?

I think the more doomsday crap people throw out will make this a self fulffiling prophecy

Get a grip and a bottle of your favorite booze and chill for the night. It's not quite that bad yet. 😉

Problem is, when it gets that bad it may be too late to buy it.

I've asked before and will again. At what point do we grab what savings we have in cash just to hold it? I wouldn't feel at much risk with several thousand in my house for a short while or a safety deposit box and it's not like it would be a lot of hassle. Is there any chance, even if banks completely locked up, that we'd not even be able to get our cash?

lol, I'm not worried myself that much really, I don't have a huge personal stake in what is going on. I would love to live in a mad max type world though

That would be awesome. If you got lucky you could even find a girlfriend and then at some point try to escape from the Lord Humungous' thugs. Maybe end up with a wrist-fired crossbow-bolt in your chest as your girlfriend is raped next to you.

He had memory problems. Remember in Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome he was like he'd never even met Mad Max before!

I think getting the bunker stocked might be a little premature...

On the topic of ammo prices, ammo's been up for a while now based on higher than normal worldwide demand for metals like copper, brass, lead, you name it. Prices continues to rise and it's been my experience that supplies in popular military calibers is also short lately due to the usual commercial manufacturers rocking out contract lots for the DoD rather than producing ammo for the "residential" markets (even from the Russian manufactures like Wolf / Barnul, etc..). Clinton's executive order guarantees surplus military ammo won't hit the commercial market so you're pretty much paying 2-3x what you were a couple of years ago.

Time to get our guns and bibles and go to the Capital or wall street. Take your Pick.

To tell you the truth I dont know what is best Bailout or no Bailout.

Will the Economy Collapse?

Will we all be in card board boxes by next week?

Who knows?

My guess is the world will go right on going. People still want to buy stuff and they still have money. I still have a house and a job and I am still paying taxes.

If things really goes south and things really get bad they will just have another vote and have a bailout. Either that or lots of companies will fail and banks will crash and all the banking and financed and stock laws will be rewritten. Question is, what will happen.

If all the fat cats in the finance sector starve to death, will that be such a bad thing?

I was thinking mizzou might be more along the lines of Wez's bike mate 😉 :lips:

Piasabird asks the right question, "If all the fat cats in the finance sector starve to death, will that be such a bad thing? "

The problem with that reasoning is that mosques and cockroaches are the ultimate survivors. Piasabird is correct, we still have cash on hand money, the problem is, it will no longer buy anything.

If you live in area that's prone to natural disasters, you should already have a stock of non-perishable food, water, supplies etc. There are still people in the Houston area that are without electricity for two weeks after Hurricane Ike.

Do any of you actually believe the U.S. could become a modern wild wild west? Will law enforcement cease to exist to the point that we must defend ourselves with guns?

People today seem to be barely hanging on, society seems closer to going insane than to rationality. Early this summer a tornado came through town. The police were out trying to assess the damage just moments after it had gone through, and people were already stealing keys at the dealership that got hit. They detained a bunch of people right there and said some had gotten away. I can only imagine what some places would be like if the economy collapses.

Yeah, even if it's not needed you can always sell it to people who do need it after the US collapses. Try to stock up on soem weird calibers too, like 5.7, because you will be able to sell those for mroe to people that have all of the illegal full-auto SBR P90's by then.

Already stocked up and in good shape there.
Fear that Obama will be elected and assassinated took care of that months ago.
I live in a diverse area and on the edge of a bad one , so I'd be in the stink if that were to occur.
It's bad enough that myself and 3 neighbors all armed ourselves (unknown to each other at the time) in the same month due to incidents and increased traffic in the area.
Purchase of additional ammo only occurred recently for me.

For christ sake. It's crap like this that reminds me why gun owners are almost by definition the people least qualified to own them. Chill out. Today was a blow, but it was tiny in comparison to the storms that we've weathered in the past.

I know the OP was mostly joking, but I'm sure there are folks out there that react in that way to situations like this.
