Heyhey, this thread exploded a little bit  - Thanks for the replies (not counting the non helpful ones). I don't regret posting this after all. I didn't get grilled too bad (though someone did give me a "wow, just wow"), and got some good advice from some folks. Most notably Modular and ShadowOfMyself.

A job with computers or video games might be good, but most computer job stuff is boring and everyone wants a job in video games. I'm not sure what i could do that i would like in a video game job. Plus most video game jobs require college degrees.

I could get into 'the system' and go back to school or start at $8 per hour somewhere, and then work my way "up" slowly, but I don't like the system. I understand it works for many people, and many people are happy with it (even if they are unhappy at their jobs), which is ok. But, it's not for me. That's not how I want to spend my life, I'd rather die than work at some job i hate making chump change. I realize though in today's world, that might be my only option. It sucks that to live your life the way you want, you need to be rich. Most people retire about 60, and then start living. I've heard the saying, "You work hard, you play hard". Even after working for all of that time. When you're 60, you don't have much time left to enjoy life to the fullest. I don't want to spend 50% of my life working at some job, unless i really liked the job a lot. I just assume i would hate any job i had, which is probably a mistake. There are probably many jobs out there that i would like, but they are all probably out of my reach, seeing as i'm not qualified for anything. I feel like i would either be at work and be depressed, or being depressed when thinking about having to work the next day or whatever.

I'm kind of a head case as well, if you couldn't tell already. I just don't want to live the 'normal' life, working 9 to 5 for 40 years, retireing, and then still not doing anything interesting or important to my life. This ordeal is about more than money, but you need money to succeed at most things today. If I won the lottery today, and was rich, i still wouldn't know what to do with my life. Life isn't just about getting money. Unfortunately though it's a big part of life.

Yes i do have a mean sleep disorder. It's more than Insomnia, i'm not sure what to call it though. Probably some other stuff i should respond to...i'll check back later.

You just need to get a clue, nothing is going to be handed to you, you need to work hard to get what you want. Sounds like you need a slap in the face and a kick in the pants

You are one of those lazy, WoW players. Get a life

People telling me to 'get a life' aren't helpful, but it wasn't your intention to be helpful. Your type of reply was expected and understandable.. I know i need to get a life, i want a new life, a different life, that's why i made this thread, to see if anyone had any good advice to maybe help get me started. Oh, and i don't play WoW, so that's minus 1 geek point for me :p

You need to atleast go away to college or something to get away from your house and stuff. And what you are describing is everyone's dream. Of course everyone wants to retire at 2x years old and be a millionaire. You need a reality check. Then get a job like everyone else. That is part of maturing and growing up...making it on your own and providing for yourself.

You mention you don't know what to do but you keep o mentioning money. Money IS WHAT YOU WANT.

Go teach. Be happy and do something that helps others. Have you ever tried to teach kids?

Do a kids summer camp. You will meet other people and you might just enjoy the experience.

You are living your dream life right now. What you wrote is the equivalent of an alcoholic saying that he needs to stop drinking but he must have 6 beers everyday. You want to do something with your life but in the same paragraph you want to do nothing (Refuse to go to school or get a job). What is it? Your parents must have millions of dollars for you to have zero motivation in life.

You have no education. You have no motivation to either get an education or a job. You want lots of money. Ayn Rand is rolling in her grave as I type.

I suppose you're right, money is what i want, at least for now. I want lots of money though of course, and i'll say it again, i don't want a crummy job that's going to make me depressed all of the time. I'm going to have to keep thinking about what it is i can do, i know i don't have to work at a job i hate to make money though. A job i 'don't like much' would be ok though, just as long as i didn't hate it i suppose.

In this job market it's hard to get employment with just a bachelor's degree. Many people are getting masters degrees just to improve their employment prospects.

You don't even have a high school diploma. You'll be lucky if you can make $8 an hour.

I feel like I was pretty lazy in my youth, because I used to come home from classes in high school and college and just sit and watch TV or play video games most of the time. But at least I put in a full day's worth of work as well. You do nothing, and you live in a fantasy world.

You know it's not a joke, you're not fooling anyone.

Bump to get grilled some more and maybe get some more ideas :) - I am willing to work as long as I'm not miserable.
