For those of us who have multiple rebates with Staples and other vendors using Parago for fulfillment, the changes to the rebateshq.com web site should be a cause of great concern.

I received a check Saturday for $20. Although the checks do not specify offer information, in the past I would simply cross-reference the chck number with the open items on the web site. Now that this information is no longer available, we have NO WAY of keeping our rebate submissions straight.

I have already sent them an e-mail, and didn't get very far with the telephone CSR. My next step is to start complaining to Staples, and see what they can do.

This sounds like a great task for a mass e-mail / phone effort. As we have seen in the past, the power of this board can do amazing things, so convincing them to restore this important function should not be a big deal.

Who's with me?

I see no changes in either the rebatesHQ or Staples rebates website. Even without the check number they ALWAYS print the offer#, Manufacturer name or product name on the postcard checks that I have received. I simply compare the check I received with my outstanding rebates. I have never had a problem matching a check with a request and I send a LOT of rebates. The only time that I could see that this could possibly be a problem is if you are submitting multiple request for the same offer.

Sorry Getreal - my checks do not show an offer or item number.

Check the web site again. For all of my rebates, the check numbers NO LONGER APPEAR - even those that have been fulfilled.

The difficulty is when you have different rebates that offer the same dollar amount, you'll have no clue which check represents which rebate?! I have three $40 outstanding rebates, the Linksys switch + NIC card, APC UPS, Pacific Digital 12X burner, they all offer $40 rebate individually. Without the check number information on RebatesHQ.com, I will not know the first $40 check arrived belongs to which rebate and thus it creates a problem to track my rebates. However, I don't think we can persuade RebatesHQ to change anything for us since this is just upto their preference how to design their rebate tracking page. This is not their obligation but just for our convenience.

When I received a check recently for $40 I had two items outstanding for this amount. A call to the rebate center had a CSR that quickly confirmed what item the rebate was for. No hassles.... however, I'm confused why they would delete the check information from their website -- it was convenient!

Parago's web site has changed -- you can no longer follow the process of your rebate from received to check number. All of my old rebates, for which I already have checks, are just shown as "fulfilling". In the old days, I could tell when a check number had been assigned and later see when it was actually printed.

If you don't like it, just foward a message. If enough people don't like it, or if they get an increased number of calls asking for the information that used to be there, they will change it.

As far as not being able to match the check with the product -- use Rebate!Rebate! so you'll have the promotion number on record.

The postcard checks I get don't have the information you're getting.. or I've been missing it (I've looked)....

>>>Even without the check number they ALWAYS print the offer#<<<

None of those is on the $50.00 check that I received from Staples on Saturday...there is no indication whatsoever of what item they are paying for...I can only assume it is for the Olympus D-360L rebate. Web site doesn't indicate the check number, so there is not way of being sure...and I do keep meticulous records. I'm going to call them every time I get a check.

This thread belongs in BRAG AND MOAN, or OFF-TOPIC like hundreds of others that keep getting posted here daily. Everybody thinks their post should be exempt from the rules.

I can still see the confirmation that my rebates were received. Two of them just updated today as received. In addition, they now send an email confirmation with a tracking number for rebates that were entered online. As far as two offers with the same rebate amount, as I stated earlier, all the checks that I have received anyway always have the promo # or Offer name on them. I still see no problem other than poor record keeing on the submitter's part.

I got a rebate a couple days ago too, and the only $20 outstanding rebate I had was for those labtec speakers a month back.

BTW, What's the number to get right to a CSR? Every time I call, I get stuffed w/ this voice mail system.
