Compact snow & ice has arrived, finally time to throw the new Nokian Extremes on my Troll...

They actually hold up to many seasons of use, since the studs are carbide-tipped and with a GVW of around 220 pounds they're tough to wear out. Still got to be alert to surface irregularities and ridges, they're not endowed with miraculous powars 🙂

One of these days I'll see you riding in the snow, now I know what bike to look for and swing way out to give you room. Keep safe riding with the nut cases around here.

Those look like sweet tires. I have ridden in the snow, but never with studded tires. No disc brakes?

No disc brakes on that one, it's the workhorse grocery-getter. The XC race bike has discs, though, 160/140 Avid X-0 hydraulic. I was running this one until I cracked the frame...

The black pod on the side of the head tube is a Contour HD1080 cam. I shot video from my XC races this year, kind of entertaining for the right audience 🙂 Sample: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=smsWawOFDvA
