Time of day with least traffic?

on the katy freeway, a 15 minute period between 10:15 and 10:30 is about the only time between 6 am and 7:30 pm where you'll be able to do near the speed limit the whole way.

I don't know where you're from.

When I went to work, I used go to before 9. A lot of hte business people at my company showed up before 9. But I was an engineer. So I started showing up at 10 instead. The truth is while carpool ends at 9, there's a buttload of traffic at 10 as the engineers go to work then. Maybe that's also because I live in Silicon Valley.

If you go early enough around 8:30, there's still plenty of traffic. When the carpool lane ends at 9, there's actually the least traffic. 9 - 930 offers an easy commute. As you approach 10, it gets heavy again.

I've driven up to Redwood Shores (Oracle) around 11 on the 101, and it jams like crazy too then. Ugh.

My pick is 2pm. 1pm has the rush back, but I used to take lunch breaks 1 - 2, and it's decent around then.
 
10~11AM since most people are at work and have not taken a lunch break yet. In the afternoon 2~3 usually isn't bad either
 
I think 9-10AM is the best. About 10AM the retired people start getting out for their daily trip to the Post Office.

I notice very little traffic when I commute to Silicon Valley on 280 from 9:20-10am.
 
This thread is pointless with out a link to a study/facts. People just yelling out random times that cover pretty much every possible hour in the OP's window. It's also going to vary by area.
 
id say around 4am. You usually have the drunks still on the road around 2-3am, and about 5-6am you start getting morning traffic.


But during the day, id say around 10-11am. Rush hour usually hits from like 6-9am and 4-7pm, and youve got lunch traffic between 11 and 1.

Doesnt really bother me though because I live about a mile from work, and usually takes me about 10 minutes during rush hour.
 
I didnt think that was a time of day universal to every road in the country during which was the least amount of traffic 🙂

Just within 15 miles of my house in lower NY the traffic patterns can vary so widely depending the road and direction. It pays to explore different routes to find what works best

When you live in an area where the only improvement to the road system since 1865 has been paving the roads traffic is a 24x7 experience.
 
1000am. people are settling into work, and its right smack in the middle (for most people) of getting into work and lunch.
