It's obvious Skoorb didn't even bother to read the article, because the article clearly described the 2001 Man of the Year as mayor Guiliani, not policemen or firemen.

Actually, I was the one who brought up the firemen and policemen taking it for 2001. But you'll notice I did say I wasn't sure. Every other magazine/newspaper/tv show sucked their collective peni (penises?) for months afterwards so I'd thought Time did too. Even so, there have been multiple times in recent years where it went to a group of people and not just 1 person.

and i agree with Time's person(s) of the year. i appreciate that these people put their lives on the line for our freedoms.
I'm sure the entire forum is not going to like my comment, but you americans have to be insanely dense to really think that you (and I don't mean you personally, but the US in general) fight for ANY freedoms.

You also have to be really shortsighted not to see how biased your media are. One quote from CNN.com which I think is demonstrative enough is about the attack in which the US military killed 7 children - the article was called something along the lines of "Iraquis are understanding of children's deaths".

I'd write some more like how the US selectively designates terrorists (the chechens being freedom fighters, and not terrorists) but I try to steer clear from the ATOT political threads since it's useless arguing with you and trying to show you something you don't want to see. That said I won't return to the thread to read any replies so you can keep your personal attacks to yourself.

amen to that.

when test scores stop dropping :| (even as the tests are getting easier :Q)
I've come across maybe a handful of good teachers in my K-12 academic career, and my personal opinion is that parents/media/education combined is the biggest problem our society has. There are way too many stupid, irresponsible, uninformed people in America.
