Looking for a good program that can string together stills and make a time lapse video. I'm currently using QuickTime Pro which provides a good quality output but its only single threaded and very slow. I've also used Picasa but the quality was horrendous. Any recommendations?

I've been using PS with pretty good results. But naturally it will depend on how many frames, at what rate, what size, etc.

I (sadly, but honestly) have used Windows Movie Maker, which... for all its limitations, does an OK job if you only use it now and then for the purpose.

Use Movie maker too as I tried Adobe Premiere and I found WMM to be easier to use.

Can any of those programs take in thousands of photos automatically based on file date?

I hope to make a 25 minute 60fps movie later this year (90k photos).

Assuming your files are in the correct order, the program I listed above should work. I used it to produce a 38 second time-lapse using ~900 photos. The program caps out at 30 fps though.

I don't know if there is a cap on how many images you can stitch together at once, but I suppose you can do 1000 photo snippets and then join those together using external software.
