Time Lapse of Rig Built from Scratch

I was testing out a budget rig based off the brisbane core and decided to film the build process and play it back at 27x. Its kinda neat:

Lol, pretty cool. I liked the thumbs up at the end. That was nice a smooth on BF2142, didn't see any real skipping.
 
Haha, I love thumbs up. Whats hilarious is that about 60% of my wedding photos, thats what I'm doing, lol.

Ya, I was pleasantly surprised with how well it ran bf2142. 1280x1024 with high settings (textures on medium, no AA). Not too shabby for a budget comp.
 
Haha, I have a friend who will do that in 99% of photos he's in. He doesn't even realise he's doing it half the time.

What this video needs is to be set to the music of yakkity sax. I'd laugh my head off 😛.

Awesome vid, thanks. So when someone I know asked if it's hard to build a PC, I'll just point them at your video and say, "nope".

I was surprised that you didn't assemble the CPU onto the mobo before installing it into the case. For virgin PC installs, I find that saves time and effort, since working those HSF retainer clips in such a crowded space can be challenging.

I also noticed that you cleaned off the default shin-etsu paste from the retail heatsink. Why? Unless I'm re-applying the heatsink, the stock paste is fine, for the most part. I suppose it depends on whether the pre-applied paste is crap or not. Shin-etsu is not. I've seen other "bubblegum" paste though which is crap.
 
I had the same idea about showing people, "see, its not hard... only takes a few minutes". lol

Installing CPU: You know, I think I have just been doing it like that for so long, its just habit. In this build there is plenty of room around all side of the heatsink, and putting that clip on was a piece of cake.

The thermal paste:
This was my first AMD since the athlon, so for a long time all my retail heatsinks have come with that sticker wax crap or that "bubble gum" kind you mentioned. So when I pulled out this AM2, I was surprised to see what looked like a metallic/ceramic particle based paste. Since all other retail wax/paste applications have been horrible in the paste, I went ahead and redid this one just to make sure. This is the second comment I got about that retail paste, which leads me to believe that it was probably is all right 🙂
 
Retail pastes are usually not that great, but not hugely terribile. Artic Silver thinly and evenly applied may save you a couple of degrees.
 
The main problem with the retail paste is that it is too much!
When the time comes to remove the sink, you may be surprised by the CPU being pulled off the socket and coming off as you pull off the sink if you are not careful.
